The Enemy - Kelsey Clayton Page 0,30

curls into a ball. I let Brady in, pepped up and ready to dance.

“Let's go out back,” I tell him. “We can practice there.”

At the sound of a whimper, he turns around and sees Cade on the floor but I don't stop walking.

“Uh, is he okay?”

I glance over at the lump of a man and shrug. “Don't know. Don't care.”

CADE

Jealousy isn't a thing I do well. It's not something I've ever really had to deal with—until now. There is something about seeing Kellan's hands on Lennon that sets my blood on fire. It's like every chance he gets, he's rubbing it in my face that he has her and I don't.

I shouldn't want her. Shouldn't want this. But fuck, there's something pulling me to her and not a damn thing I can do about it. Even after damn near ripping off my manhood with her bare hand, I want her. What kind of sick fuck am I?

My board soars across the water, whipping with ease at every turn I make. Lennon's friend Charleigh and Kellan’s side piece are sitting on the beach, watching Bryce, Jayden, and me surf. Their desperation is almost comical. Although, I think Jayden may end up actually making a move on Charleigh. Whatever floats his boat.

Out of the corner of my eye, I see Lennon on the balcony of her room. She's watching me, too. That thought alone has me wanting to show off—show her what a real man looks like. I spin the board into the perfect roundhouse cutback and grin to myself as I pull it off. When I look back up at the balcony, however, Kellan has her turned around and pinned against the railing.

Fucking asshole.

“You're such a tool,” Bryce teases as I paddle back out.

I mock confusion. “I don't know what you're talking about.”

“The fuck you don't. This isn't a competition. Tell me you didn't do that roundhouse cutback for Lennon's sake.”

I smirk. “What if I wanted to impress our little entourage over there?”

He glances back at Charleigh and Skye. “Nah. You know Jayden is considering Charleigh, and you wouldn't dip your dick into anything Kellan's been with.” He pauses and the two of us share a look. “Except maybe Lennon.”

I scoop up a ridiculous amount of water and splash him with it. “You're sick. She's practically my sister.”

“Hardly, and your parents aren't even married.”

Instead of listening to him and being forced into denying more shit I have no business talking about, I see the next wave coming in and start paddling away. “Sorry, bruh, the water calls.”

ONE OF THE THINGS about waking up early every morning to go surfing is that your body develops an internal alarm clock of sorts. It's at the point now where even if I wanted to sleep in, I can't.

I hop out of bed and head for the balcony. I'm instantly disappointed by the fact that there aren't enough waves to boogie board, let alone surf. I'm just about to get back in bed when I see her. Lennon is on the patio, running through a dance routine with her friend.

The way he grips her hips as he lifts her into the air spurs something inside of me. It's like my mind knows he's gay, but with Lennon, I lose all sense of logic. It's dangerous, playing this game, but anyone would admit she's nearly impossible to ignore. Her infectious smile. Her strong willed personality. And her vice grip. I wince at the memory.

“She's gorgeous, isn't she?” an irritating voice says from behind me.

Yeah, like I'd ever admit that out loud. “I've seen better.”

Kellan steps up next to me. “Good, then focus your eyes on them instead of my girlfriend. I could see you staring from the kitchen windows.”

I laugh dryly. “You are one insecure son of a bitch, aren't you?”

“Cut the shit, Knight. I've seen the way you look at her. She isn't single, you know?”

My eyes roll. “Obviously. You've made sure to hump her like a dog in heat every time I'm within fifty feet of you two.”

He grins smugly. “Good, then do yourself a favor and find someone else. That one's taken.”

Lennon hits every move with professional skill. I don't think I've ever seen someone so talented. When Brady touches her again, I force myself to look away.

“I appreciate your concern, Spence, but I don't think I'm the one you need to worry about.”

My head gestures toward the back door, where Colby is leaning. He's watching her, too, only he isn't doing anything
