Endue: Women, Twins, Cyborgs - L. Ann Marie Page 0,98
Princes brought back paperwork for the kids only. The FBI destroyed more than they took. The director had only paperwork about the kids they needed to get back. That’s whoever they transported to bases. Everything else got burned. He didn’t bring back what would show how they did everything they did. You know because you helped with the FBI Ops for the kids right from the beginning. More than half the kids here aren’t listed on FBI paperwork. Princes did get Michaels paperwork but he doesn’t exist to the FBI.”
Alder sits forward. “Like DNA to Alpha-Bits. We are different. How is no help. We need different with no time for how. Michael need help now. How is no help. He is here. Help now, mean we test him, understand, act. Vaccine to help, explain to help, work to help.” He shakes his head. “How is for DNA doctor, years to understand, no help to Alpha-Bits or Michael now. No Alpha-Bits, no history to learn mistake.”
Ford looks surprised. “You’re all here, we have proof.”
I shake my head. “They don’t exist outside the Clubs. If they do, they’re a threat to the government now.”
Cort adds, “Every player is dead. The government is already hiding or whatever their existence. The FBI didn’t move all the kids or get the count of more than some here. They were told they’d be spread to tribes. The others,” he shrugs, “Badass and Masons saved them by never bringing them to the US.”
“Holy Christ.”
That about sums it up.

Cort walks back to his house with me. He had Brinks, Harper and Brekan go in the truck. Ford and Garren are staying with Web for a few days. Heam is staying with them until the party. Rex is picking him up later. I can’t say I remember how close Crow and Heam were. I was just a kid. I think it’s cool that Heam is staying in Cort’s house. One of those reaffirming moments to show him Crow is still close and watching over him. I know he’d give me a quote if I asked.
Before we get past the office he starts talking. “Brinks isn’t angry anymore, Jinx.”
I smile. “No. I saw it in his eyes.”
“Your ability to bounce back is impressive, Brother. No hard feelings from him dropping you and giving Debra shit?”
I think about that. “He needs to fix it with her. When he does, I’m fine moving forward. I had no problem telling him when he dropped me. I was done being mad when I did. I don’t hold shit like he does. I can’t. We’re alike in so many ways and probably different in just as many. It’s never bothered me until yesterday. Today, we’re moving forward.”
He laughs. “You’re a good Brother, Jinx. I’m honored you’re mine and so fucking glad you didn’t go into the FBI.”
“Me too. They sucked before the new director got with Badass.”
“They did. Aiyana is talking to Stella and Debra. Dakota talked to Jordan. Jordan is good. Brinks was a dickass to the women, they have reason and may not move forward as easily as you do.”
I nod. “They’ll do what they’ll do and I’ll give them room to breathe.” My smile is for my ol’ lady’s words.
Cort shakes his head. “Love ya, Brother.”
I stop so he does. “You need to know, I didn’t want you to adopt us because I didn’t want you to die too. For a while, it seemed like that was how it worked. For years I thought the reason you made it was because we weren’t tied to you.” I smile at him. “Turns out the reason we made it was because you tied us to you and the Brothers so tight, we had no option but to make it. By the time I figured it out, we were too old to be adopted.” I shrug making him smile. “I know you see us as family. We feel it deeper because you didn’t give us conditions for it to happen. You just love us. We are who we are because of all those lessons you taught us. Crow always said you were destined for greatness and you were the only one that didn’t see it. I wake up smiling every day proud of who I am, Badass and my big brother Cort. Thanks for being the Brother Crow knew you’d be.”
He hugs me. “Jesus fuck. Love ya, Brother.”
I start walking when he lets me go. “I’ve always known.”
He shakes his head laughing.
I smile all the
