Colton (Cerberus MC #14) - Marie James Page 0,52
inch of his massive body. The way he pressed me into his office wall Thursday comes to mind, and I know the man has the strength to pick me up, fuck me hard and not even break a sweat.
“Really?” Izzy squeals. “That’s who you’re texting?”
“Shhh,” I snap.
“Your dad will kill you and him.”
Maybe… maybe not.
“You have to try these!” My sister Jasmine sits down on the other side of Izzy, attempting to pass a cheeseburger slider to me, but I’m only hungry for one thing right now.
I ignore her, shooting off another text.
Me: I have a few ideas on how we can solve that problem.
“Oh, God,” Izzy groans. In my peripheral vision, I see her hand clutch her stomach. A second later, she’s covering her mouth like she’s going to be sick and running for the hallway.
“Oh no,” Rocker hisses from the sofa only a couple of feet away.
“What’s wrong with her?” Hound asks, concerned about his oldest daughter as he walks across the room holding Amelia’s tiny hand as she toddles beside him.
“How far along is she?” Simone blurts, and my eyes have to look like saucers.
“Excuse me?” Hound snaps.
My eyes dart around the room—everything but this conversation suddenly more interesting than the glare I know I’m getting from Hound.
“What did you say?” Hound demands again.
“It’s the meat. I mean I could be wrong, but the smell of meat makes me sick,” Simone explains.
“You’re pregnant, too?” I ask, the question slipping out before I can stop it. I slap my hand over my mouth, but the damage is already done.
“She isn’t,” Hound argues, his head shaking back and forth like saying the words will make them true. “She’s too young.”
“She’s the same age as I was when we got pregnant with Amelia,” Gigi says, looking at her husband with a bored expression.
Did Izzy confide in her, too? She doesn’t look exactly surprised by the news.
I watch in horror as Hound looks around the room trying to figure out who he’s going to kill for touching his daughter. Little does he know the man will never step foot in this clubhouse. Izzy has no interest in tracking down the guy who got her pregnant, and I doubt Hound will ever be able to get the truth out of her.
“No fucking way, man!” Apollo, one of the new Cerberus members says, holding his arms up near his head in mock surrender. “I haven’t touched her!”
Ignoring the man’s declaration, I watch as Apollo’s face turns white when Hound begins to cross the room.
A phone rings, but most people are waiting to see if blood is going to be shed on the clubhouse floor. Like I said, there’s always drama around here.
“That’s not fucking possible,” Lawson hisses, his drink falling to the floor at his feet when he surges up from the couch. “I’ll be there.”
Lawson is ignoring the mess at his feet and staring down at his phone like it’s a bomb ready to explode.
“What’s going on?” Delilah asks, her hand clamping on her husband’s arm.
“Drew,” he whispers, and the entire room goes silent.
Tears instantly burn the backs of my eyes. Drew, Lawson’s younger half-brother, is working for the New Mexico State Police. He’s only been on the job for a couple of months. Fuck, he’s still training to be a cop.
“No. Please, no,” I gasp, my lungs refusing to fill completely with air.
Several others around me are having the same reaction.
“No, no,” Lawson says, lifting his head and looking around the room. “He hasn’t been hurt. Well, not yet, but when I get my hands on him—”
“Then what?” Lawson’s dad asks as he steps in closer.
Lawson looks up, despair in his eyes. “He’s been arrested by the police.”
“Arrested by the police?” Someone scoffs on the other side of the room, and I think it’s Cannon, but I can’t pull my eyes away from Lawson. “He is the police.”
“This seems familiar,” Griffin mutters, having had his own run-in with law enforcement awhile back. “What’s he been picked up for?”
Lawson doesn’t pull his eyes from his dad when he answers, “Homicide.”
The room erupts in chaos. Even Hound has stopped his pursuit of Apollo.
Questions fly, ones Lawson can’t answer, before people start piling out. Kincaid, my Dad, Kid, Snatch, and several other men shuffle a traumatized Lawson and Delilah into the conference room, closing the door with a thunderous bang.
Ivy moves into action, Simone climbing off the couch to help clean up. I’m a robot as I move around the room collecting plates and
