Brick's Fight (Infernal Sons MC #5) - Carol Dawn Page 0,15
stunned by his beauty. He’s wearing a light dusting of makeup, a purple shirt that says, Bite me, bitches, black leggings, and killer black heels.
Brick holds out a notebook and pen. He seems to always have them handy. I grab it and write.
I feel like I should bow to you. I’m pretty sure you’re the most beautiful person on this planet. It’s nice to meet you, Slim. And you too, Hawk. I’m Jessalyn, but you can call me Jessa. I’m not able to talk at the moment, but I hope this will do fine, for now.
Smiling, I hand the pad to Slim.
After reading it, he bursts out laughing.
“I think I like you, Jessa,” he says, handing the notepad to Hawk. “We’re going to be best friends, you and I. I can just feel it.”
“Heads up,” Hawk says.
“Don’t freak out, darlin’,” Brick says just as a freaking bear runs right towards us.
So, maybe I freak a little. I don’t think anyone notices when I run and hide behind Brick. He has a real chance of survival from a bear attack. That thing can eat me in a couple of bites.
As I’m waiting for the screams of pain from Brick being attacked, I look to my right to see Hawk silently laughing. What the heck is wrong with him?
“Baby,” Brick says, pulling me out from behind him. “I’d like you to meet a very special friend of mine. This is Beast.”
He nods down to the bear now calmly sitting in front of him.
Beast watches me with his long tongue dangling from his mouth. Okay, so not a bear. Feeling silly, I lean down to pet him. Before I can get my hand on his fur, he rushes forward and jumps on me, knocking me to the ground.
I can see Brick rush forward to help, but I wave him off. Beast’s tongue is consuming my face. He’s so heavy that I couldn’t move even I wanted to. After a minute or so, the giant dog finally stops licking and just stares down at me.
Then to my absolute horror, a giant stream of doggy drool drips from the side of his mouth onto my exposed neck.
If I had anything in my stomach, I would have thrown it up just now.
“He really is a wonderful dog,” Slim says, crouching down beside me. “But he slobbers by the bucketfuls. It’s just nasty.”
“Beast, off,” Brick demands.
Brick helps me stand and ushers us all to the porch. Beast at my side.
“Mama made dinner,” Brick says. “You’re more than welcome to stay.”
“That’s okay,” Slim says. “I actually wanted to let you know what I found out.”
I can tell the Brick doesn’t want Slim to say anything in front of me.
If it’s about me, then I have a right to know. I show him my paper.
Brick takes a deep breath in before nodding at Slim.
Slim quickly glances at me before turning back to Brick. I can tell that whatever it is he has to say isn’t going to be good.
“Well, I was looking into the police reports earlier today and found something that may help us find who the hell took Jessa,” Slim says. “It turns out that there was a camera in the corner of the room.”
A camera? I can’t remember ever seeing a camera.
Brick moves to stand behind me, placing his large hand on my side.
“What else?” Brick asks.
“The police haven’t been able to hack into the feed yet. The camera was recording live and broadcasting to another remote location.”
Slim stops talking and smiles.
“I back-traced the feed to an IP address located in Pleasant Plane, Ohio.”
“Damn, brother,” Ink says, walking out of the house stuffing a roll into his mouth. “I knew you were fast, but that was insanely fast.”
“I already told Prez, but he told me that you’d be leading this one.”
Everyone just stares at Brick, waiting to hear his response.
I was told about the Infernal Sons and their president. Bear sounds like a wonderful man. I’ve been around alpha men my whole life, and I know how hard it is for them to give up control.
“Is there any way for you to dig a little deeper and see if you can find some names?” Brick asks.
“My systems were already in the process when we left. I should know something in the next couple of days.”
“Sounds good,” Brick says. “As I said, you’re more than welcome to come inside and eat.”
“Nah,” Hawk answers. “We need to get going. Talk to you later, brother.”
With that, Hawk and Slim
