his mental link with Blaze I don’t understand… it’d be so much quicker if he did. “Blaze, first rounds are complete. The ones who’ve been auctioned off will be leaving with their new owners.”
I block out the conversation he’s holding with Blaze and lose myself in thoughts. There has to be more we can do to make sure rounds two and three don’t come to fruition.
I do manage to overhear and catch the key words as they talk. In our town, and traced it to the old McCrumb factory. They’ve been under our noses the entire time and we just now figured it out.
I hope Blaze and the brothers turn them all into ash.
Blaze
After getting off the line with Decoder, I pick up the phone and give the coordinates of the auction to Chief Anderson. He’s been sitting in wait for us to call so he can set up roadblocks from all exit points from the warehouse where it’s being held.
These dumb fucks actually thought they could do this in my town and escape unnoticed? They must think we’re a bunch of naïve and stupid assholes. Either that, or they want us to catch them… and that can’t be a good thing.
“What if them doing this in our town is a set up?” I ask the men surrounding me. “What if they want us to catch them?”
“What could they accomplish from that?” Kane asks in contemplation.
“To take us out; we’re the only threat they really have left. They’ve got insiders that are pretty high up in both shifter and human government. If the Dark Leopards are taken out, there’s nothing holding them back,” Bolt insinuates.
“Which is why they took Echo. They wanted to entice us to come to them,” Pops states and suddenly it all clicks into place.
Motherfucking, cocksuckers, pieces of shit.
“Did I just send the Chief and his men into an ambush?” Picking my phone back up, I shoot off a text to him letting him in on our suspicions. It’s the best I can do, hopefully he receives it before we have a chance to get there and intercept him and his men. “He’s not answering my message, we need to go help. If we set him up unintentionally or not, it’s our job to provide and offer extra security. Gather the men up, we ride out in three minutes.” I watch as both Bolt and Kane pick up their phones and initiate the phone tree we have in place. They’ll begin it and each man they contact, will hit the man beneath them.
We arrive at the warehouse fifteen minutes from my first call to the Chief. His men and he have spread out to block all incoming and outgoing roads.
“Just got your message,” he says as I climb off my bike and walk up to him. “You think we’re in for some trouble?”
“We do,” I answer, “so we wanted to be here to assist in case our hunch was correct. My brothers will fan out and help your men wherever they’re needed.”
“We’ll never turn down assistance from you all; place your brothers where you think they’ll be the most helpful. I’m gonna go to my car and announce it to my officers.” He turns around on the heel of his foot and takes off for his cruiser.
“This ends tonight,” I say quietly to Kane. “Place the boys where they’ll be the most valuable. No matter what, we leave with all of these men and women alive and in one piece. The bear, lion, wolf and snake must be destroyed. We’ll take the others that we know about down differently.” My decree is met with a nod of Kane’s head.
“Anston, Jason and Markus will be running scared once we chop the head off of their operation,” Kane snickers. “I’d love to be a fly on the wall once they discover their money's gone down the drain.”
“I’ve got my men in place to capture the three of them. We need to just worry about getting these people to safety,” Jake sneaks up on us and says. He’s like a motherfucking ghost; never even heard him approaching.
“Then they’re no longer our problem,” I state, as Kane takes off to place our brothers where they’ll be needed. “We need to get the humans out of here as quickly as possible. They’ll be desperate and will most likely shift. We’ll have to fight them in animal form.”
“I’ll take care of that once they escort the survivors out of here and are all
