like you want to bite someone’s head off. I know that feeling very well.”

“You? That’s funny. You’re the calm, cool Lawson,” Jordan replied.

“Like you said, we’re not all what we appear to be. It wasn’t that long ago that I was willing to risk it all for the opportunity to tear someone to pieces,” Seth stated seriously.

Jordan looked at his brother and couldn’t believe it. Seth wasn’t a violent man. Even growing up, he was more the diplomat in the family. At school Seth acted as the mediator between bullies and their victims. Jordan handled it differently.

“Care to elaborate?” he asked.

“I lost my ability to think clearly when I met Charlene. The sit back and talk method went out the window when her well-being was in jeopardy. Until then, I’d have agreed with you.”

Jordan stated. “So what you’re saying is love changes a man.”

“It sure as hell does. You don’t even see it coming. One day you wake up and you find your priorities have changed. Not that you forget about everything else, but it’s…it’s just hard to explain. You find yourself no longer thinking ‘me’, but now thinking ‘her’,” Seth explained.

He was starting to do that with Gianna. Blowing off meetings in order to ensure she was okay definitely was a change in his character. Even though that need wasn’t there any longer, something inside of him couldn’t stop worrying about her. He could pretend like it didn’t bother him, but obviously even Seth picked up on it. How was he going to be able to get through the party tomorrow night?

“And that brings me right back to why you and I are having this meeting. I believe bringing on temporary staff would alleviate some of the pressure so you can be home with your families more.” He pulled out a few sheets of paper, each holding detailed information from several local companies. Even though he wasn’t talking with Gianna right now, her company was included in the packet. “I’ve done all the research and I would suggest contracting with one of these agencies.”

Seth sat there looking through the papers and then pulled one out. “This one sounds familiar. Why?” he asked, holding up Gianna’s company.

“Grayson Corp. has a contract with them. I have spoke to Rosslyn regarding this and she said Today & Tomorrow provides topnotch employees. She takes her company very seriously,” he stated honestly. No matter what was going on Jordan respected her work ethic and drive. It reminded him of how they handled things at Lawson Steel.

“Are you talking about Rosslyn or the owner of Today & Tomorrow?”

“Both,” he said.

“So your recommendation is we use the same company? I thought you were worried about risk. Grayson Corp. is our competition,” Seth stated.

Jordan chuckled. “Rosslyn is not a rival, she’s…family.”

Seth said, “I have to agree. With the passing of her uncle Maxwell, and her inheriting everything, the relationship between the businesses has definitely changed.”

“It has. Maybe it’s time we follow her lead too and do this.”

“Okay. You have my support. Now all you need to do is gain the others. When do you plan on setting this meeting up?”

He could schedule it for later today, but he wanted to wait till after the party. “Monday.”

“The delay is due to what?”

“Why are you asking questions that you already know the answers to?” Jordan said glaring at his brother.

Seth shrugged. “I guess I wanted to see if you knew why.”

Smartass.

“I hope I can count on you to keep quiet about this. Gianna is already stressed enough about the party,” he said.

“Why? From what I heard, it’s a casual gathering, not really a party,” Seth corrected.

Jordan laughed. “Do you think for a minute these ladies are going to stop at casual? Trust me. There will be more food than anyone can eat and you guys better be prepared for being told what to wear.”

“Ha. That’s funny. You’d never believe what Charlene asked me yesterday.”

“I’m afraid to ask. But what?”

Seth couldn’t keep a straight face as he responded. “Chaps. Fucking chaps.”

Jordan laughed. “Guess I should count myself lucky. It was only a cowboy hat for me.”

“Do we want to take bets on what Dylan and Gareth are going to show up wearing?” Seth asked.

Those two were the wild ones of the family, but had settled down once married. Still, he wouldn’t put anything past either of them. “I’ll pass on taking that bet. I have a feeling it’s going to be a very interesting gathering tomorrow night.”

“It’s definitely not like
