Alpha Siege (Omega Mates #1) - Pearl Tate Page 0,59
armpits to pull him forward and help him swivel onto his butt. I’m not sure I totally agree that we should release him, but if he and Couffer are correct, we’re dealing with something entirely new.
“Okay. Wait now…” Sunny has her hands up in front of her, pressing them toward us both as if she wants us to slow down. “Just tell me what this Omega Prophecy is supposed to be about. I mean… I’m totally lost here. All I know is that now you’re saying you believe that I came down with other women in a spacecraft? From space? From Earth? Now you do believe that I’m not from here?”
Directing her questions at me, my cock hardens at her insolent tone. Damn! I’m going to have to go back through the Omega Prophecy myself and try to find out about their mates. I remember they were supposed to have them, but I haven’t seriously spent any time in the Holy Scriptures for many, many years.
After all, that’s why we have our religious leaders. It’s their job to determine what we should and shouldn’t be doing, and my job as their Alpha to enforce those rules and keep everyone safe.
“Oh, yes. He believes you now.” I give Pup a dirty look since he answered for me. He’s right, but I can answer for myself. He has both his arms and legs straight out, rotating his ankles and wrists slowly and trying to get the blood flow circulating. He doesn’t even notice me. Pulling his knees up, he wraps his forearms around his legs and adds seriously, “If he doesn’t believe us yet, he will soon.”
I swallow hard, unsure what more to say. I’ve already apologized to Sunny, but considering the circumstances, I’ll do it again. “I had no idea. We’re positive about the defense system around our planet. No Alien species can enter our atmosphere… or so we’ve been told.”
Couffer shuffles closer, testing the stability of his legs. As an elder, it takes longer for his body to recover from a Siege. Leaning in, he studies Sunny’s face, looking for something. “Yes, Omega Mother. We all apologize for our lack of welcome, but there have been many debates and extensive studies, trying to pinpoint the period of time to expect you. Most have agreed we have around three generations longer—”
“Not everyone agreed.” Pup cuts him off, and the old man nods slowly.
Truna has stepped in between Pup and our High Priest, turning to face Pup with a sneer. “And who are you? How is it you seem to know so much about this?” I know she means no offense, but when she rakes her eyes down his body, I can see she’s hesitating. He has the marks of a scholar, and it wouldn’t be the first time that a scholar is more knowledgeable than an elder…. even a High Priest.
I’m about to intervene when Pup laughs, clearly not upset with the direction of the conversation. “Oh, I’m nobody… as everyone has been quick to assure me. I’m just a lowly scholar who decided to do a bit of investigation on my own. If I was any higher ranked, me being missing would’ve been taken a lot more seriously. As it is, the only ones who have the smear campaign against me now are the Beta groups. You’ve heard of them and how zealous they can be?”
Of course I’ve heard of them, and Truna is nodding her head as well. “There’s a growing faction in their ranks, that’s determined to make sure that this particular prophecy never comes to pass.”
“What!” Couffer’s indignation has him sputtering as he speaks. “That’s sacrilegious! How can this blasphemous thought be entertained by any group—”
“I couldn’t agree more!” Pup is balancing on his hands and knees as he climbs to his feet. “And it’s not just because of the Omega Prophecy. It’s because, I believe, based on some indications in old scientific records, the reason we’re all under Siege is because we need the Omega Prophecy to come to pass. That’s one of the reasons why I don’t agree with the generational idea of its fulfillment. Certainly you’ve all noticed the acceleration in its occurrence. We used to be able to go years in between Sieges. Now, it’s occurring every three days? Don’t you think that’s a little odd?”
I don’t totally understand what he’s referring to, but Truna and Couffer appear to as they step forward and Truna clarifies, “So, as a scholar, you’re taking the
