now she’s fucking with Rockhead’s rep again and messin’ up our jobs. I finally got the okay from Alpha Rourn to teach her a lesson,” Drag says with malicious glee. “Been a long time comin’.”
It takes everything in me not to launch myself across the table and start pummeling him. I hadn’t gotten a look at the fucker that attacked Addie outside the motel that day, but this is him. I can feel it. He’s out for her blood—and maybe more. Over my dead fucking body. My coyote snarls inside of me.
“What do you want us to do?” I hear Herrick say. I have no idea how he’s still able to keep his cool right now.
“Simple,” Curb says with a shrug. “You’ll go with Drag to bring her in. She won’t recognize you, so we’ll have a better shot this time. Shouldn’t be any problem with three of you and one of her. She’s a fuckin’ bird for chrissakes.”
“And what are you doing with her once you have her?” Penn asks.
“Well, we’ve gotta set an example don’t we? No one fucks with Rockhead’s business, and just because she was born in our pack, doesn’t mean she can get away with shit like this. Alpha Rourn will remind her to respect her betters.”
This fucker.
Behind us, the shifter grunts with his finishing thrust, and the others around him clink their glasses in celebration and laugh when the last of the bottles fall off the girl’s body. I dig my nails into my thighs to keep from turning around. We need to get the fuck out of here before one of us snaps.
“Just tell us the time and place,” Herrick says as he takes another swig of beer. If it weren’t for his tense shoulders, I wouldn’t be able to tell how on edge he really is. Meanwhile, I’m sure that my eyeballs are about to burn holes into Drag’s skull.
Curb glances at Drag. “She left the compound yet?”
Drag scratches his chin and shakes his head. “Not that I’ve heard, but I’ve been havin’ Riot track her. I’ll give him a call and see if she’s surfaced. She’s gotta leave the nest sometime.”
Curb nods at him and then looks back at us. “Well, there you go boys. Give Drag here your number and be ready to leave as soon as he contacts you. You help us take down this female, and I’ll personally hand over your application to Alpha Rourn to be admitted into our pack. You’ll be a good addition to Rockhead. The Moon Pack you came from is one of the best, I hear.”
“Yep,” Penn says simply.
“Any questions?”
“Nope, I think we get the gist of it,” I say dryly. Herrick and Penn both shoot me a look, but I just couldn’t stop myself.
Curb’s eyes fall to me. “What’s that, pretty boy? You gonna have a problem with following orders?”
I clench my teeth but manage to shake my head. “No.”
Curb snorts. “What’s the problem? Gettin’ cold feet already because she’s a female? Maybe you three aren’t as capable as I thought you were.”
Penn leans back in his chair confidently. “Don’t worry. We’ll take care of her.”
I barely contain my snort. Too bad for Curb that Penn doesn’t mean that in the way that he thinks.
“Fine. Now get on out of here,” he says, already eyeing another one of the waitresses who passes us by with a tray full of shots.
We all get up and leave without another word. When I look over at the booth, the naked female is now sitting on the booth on the shifter’s lap, obviously glad to be off the table. When she catches us looking, she gives us a sneer and quickly looks away, like the last thing that she wants is for anyone else to look at her. I don’t blame her.
Once we’re outside, I let out the breath I had been holding, but none of us speak as we make our way to our car. I take the back as Penn drives and Herrick gets in the front. We slam our doors at the same time and Penn starts the car and starts taking off before the engine even turns all the way over.
When we’re about to turn out of the lot, a car catches my eye and I lean forward, slapping my hand against Penn’s arm. “There’s the human—Mario. He’s the fucker who took her on that date. He was the one following us when I got Addie on my motorcycle.”
Herrick growls and we
