I started the car and pulled back out onto the street, turned around, and headed back toward the city.
I wasn’t done.
I couldn’t be done.
The traffic blurred as I drove back across the bridge and headed for headquarters once more. I pulled the Jeep into the parking lot and drove along the parking spaces, pulling in beside the Ford I'd used before.
I hurried for the elevator, smashing the buttons until the doors opened. I pushed the up button, then lifted my gaze and watched the lights slowly climb. By the time the elevator stopped and the doors opened, I was already running, hurtling myself along the hallways toward Harlan’s office, and barged through the door.
But the office was empty. No secretary…and the door to his office was closed. I strode forward, and yanked the handle, finding the damn thing locked. “No…nonono. Don’t do this to me.”
I slammed the handle, but the damn thing held. The other offices. I hurried out and into the hall, hurrying to every door in the executive hallway.
But every one of them was locked.
“They’ve all left.”
I jerked around, finding Tracey, Harlan’s secretary, walking back with a glass of water in her hand. “Where?”
“Arcanium,” she answered with a scowl.
I stepped closer, making her flinch. “What’s in Arcanium?”
“Some kind of Vampire horde,” she whispered, fear crowding in her eyes. “Harlan told me if you came looking for him that you were too late.”
“Too late?” I repeated as the walls closed in. I closed my eyes. “Too late.”
“He said they found more than just the Vampire blood in Ruth’s blood. They found a lone Wolf, an Alpha that’d been terrorizing the city, searching for you. He said he left the file on your desk, and to tell you, that you’re not done here.”
“I’m not done?”
She shrugged. “It’s just what he said.”
I stepped around her, still holding her gaze. A file on my desk.
I hurried, running back to the elevator once more. But the damn thing was all the way in the lower basement…and I couldn’t wait. I raced for the stairwell door, yanked it open, and plunged down the stairs.
A file…
A file.
The Alpha that’d been hunting me was here.
And now I had proof. Maybe this was the way back to my Wolves?
If I gave them Finis.
I drove myself faster and faster, until my thighs burned with the movement, and exited on my floor. I was gasping and my legs were trembling by the time I reached the entrance to our cubicles. My gaze lifted to the stack of papers on my desk, and the dark blue folder in front of my chair.
“Hey, Chase, you’re back?” someone called.
But I didn’t answer, I didn’t care. Instead, I yanked out my chair, dropped onto the seat, and opened the file. The image was grainy, black and white, taken from a night shot. I scanned the background, finding the massive midnight Wolf.
It was him…
My fingers trembled as I slid the image aside and stared at the report. It was from Agent Asshole, my warden, and taken on the night I left to go across the bridge to the Hunting Ground, where I met Church.
The safe house had been attacked and an agent had been slashed. They'd managed to get off two shots before the beast ran. The image was taken from a CCTV camera. The next page was a lab report. High Priority was printed across the top in bold red letters.
I scanned the details. The markers of a Lycan, and then I stopped cold… “No, that can’t be right.”
I jerked my gaze back to the image.
No. No, that wasn’t right.
Even Chaos was quiet inside my head.
I shoved upwards, knocking over my chair as I felt the blood draining down my body, leaving me lightheaded.
Not Finis.
Not Finis…
NOT FINIS.
I grabbed the report and fumbled for my phone, praying harder than I'd ever prayed in my life that he would answer this time. “Please, Phantom,” I begged as the phone rang…and rang…and rang…

“You gonna hide here forever, Wolf?” Mojin muttered and stepped out of the shadows of the warehouse.
“I’m not hiding,” I growled to the Fae.
“Sure you’re not."
I winced at the condescending tone and jerked my gaze to his. I wouldn’t ask him, wouldn’t say the words. I refused to. The woman still clung to me, her scent, her power. Her goddamn cruelty. Jesus, and I'd thought Wolves were ruthless.
“Stay for as long as you want.” The asshole waved his hand in the air. “Hell, move in, for all I care. We can even share a
