Wolf's Hunger (Mafia Monsters #5) - Atlas Rose Page 0,63

WANT from me?” I screamed, spittle flying to smack against his cheek.

“Jesus fucking Christ,” another agent muttered, stepping past us to stare at the mangled remains of the Wolves before he turned on me. “You did this?”

Pain drove through my chest as tears slipped down. “There’s no blood on me, genius. They did it to themselves.”

The grip on my arms eased, but there was no getting away from Agent Dick-face, even if I wanted to. My mind raced, they’d found me too fast…and too precisely. The bastard had the nerve to flinch when it registered. “You bastards put a tracker on me?”

I looked down at my bloodied palms…Vitold’s blood—then at my sweats and bare feet as a cold shiver raced through me.

You want me to set it up? The words returned to me as I met the agent’s stare. He’d done this. He’d let the rogue Wolves come for me…and I’d walked straight into their trap.

“Get your fucking hand off me, agent, before I tear it off and shove it up your ass.”

That Unseelie rage slipped through me as he released his hold. She bared her teeth, my dark bitch, and she wanted very much to play.

“Make a sweep of the surroundings, push it out to five blocks. If there was someone else here, we’ll find him.”

My jaw clenched, the muscle strained tight, but inside I was panicking.

Run, my beautiful protector…run.

“We’ll find the doctor.” Elithien lifted his gaze to the dimming moon. “Russell will keep searching and track them, then at first dark, we’ll get her back.”

I sucked in harsh breaths as blood ran in a trail down my arms to drip onto the ground. The night still screamed…or maybe it was the ringing in my head. A permanent chorus…one I’d created.

Arran was there, striding through the dark, both hands covered in blood, one clenched around something at his side. He unfurled his fist, dropping a bloody heart to the ground. The muscle still quivered as it hit with a splat…still shuddering with the need for life, and that’s where he left it.

“Go, Wolf.” Hurrow swiped his forehead with a bloody hand, and splatter marred his pale skin. “We got this.”

His crimson-smeared fangs were extended, his bloodsoaked shirt molded against the muscles of his chest. Ruth and the bodyguard stumbled out of the clump of trees at our backs, trying to keep up. I licked my cracked lips and tasted blood. Not mine. It looked like Rule was still out there, hunting. I turned my head, finding Church at my side. The brother looked bad, broken bones still healing…and a hollowness in his eyes. One I’d seen before.

I turned back to my brother in arms. “If you’re sure.”

One nod was all that was needed. He would hunt until the last moment, then find safety before rising once more at first dark. “If she’s hurt...”

“I’ll take care of it.”

“We’ll take care of it.”

I turned at the sound of rolling thunder, watching as Mojin strode toward us, the Unseelie’s dark eyes glistening with the kind of bloodlust no one wanted to see. The Unseelie took one look at Church and froze. He was unhinged in the most dangerous of ways…more than any of us here.

The air rippled as the Unseelie exhaled long and slow, taking another step closer before he stopped in front of my second.

“Church,” Mojin sighed.

The Wolf beside me took a step, limping as he went toward the dark Fae and lifted his hand. The males clasped palms, before Church pulled the brother closer, arms wound around the Unseelie in the kind of embrace we all needed. We might be worlds apart genetically, but in Crown City, we were family. I lifted my gaze to Elithien, remembering not long ago when I’d turned my back on the Vampire…and what it’d almost cost.

The Vampire met my gaze and gave a slow nod. “We’ll find them.” He glanced at Church as he pulled away from Mojin. “Go find Carina…get her back.”

Something inside me trembled at the words. My throat thickened, choking off my voice. All I could manage was a stiff nod before turning to Church and glancing at Arran.

I dug out the keys to the Explorer and met the Unseelie’s gaze. “We’ll return as fast as we can.”

A nod was all it took, before Mojin turned and motioned for the bodyguard. Russell, Unseelie and…whatever the hell the Dark Fae, Kapre, created, strode into the darkness. I didn’t waste a second later…my heart wouldn’t allow it. I turned, striding into the darkness,
