don’t know a ton about my telepathic abilities but I know it only happens with people I have an emotional connection to. I don’t think it’s just because we are mates either. It would have happened right away if that was the case. It may have helped bond us but this is because I genuinely feel comfortable around you guys…” I shook myself trying to not sound like a total sap. “Anyway, my parents used to be able to communicate with one another while talking to me so you three should be able to as well. You should also be able to respond.”
“Well, this is fucking cool,” Dylan’s voice rang out as he offered me a cheeky smile.
“May take a bit to get used to it,” Luca tilted his head. “We should try to learn about the extent of your abilities as much as possible. You said you can talk to our sister as well?”
“Yeah,” I smiled. “I can honestly say she is the first best friend I’ve ever had.”
“I’m wounded,” Dylan said dramatically as I rolled my eyes.
Hunter chuckled. “I’m glad you two are friends, Lena hasn’t had any close friends since our mother passed away. She went through a bit of a dark phase and stopped talking to her old friends.”
Searching his face I smiled, feeling rather special to be honest. Before I could say anything back, dinner was placed in front of us and I turned to find a younger woman standing there offering me a small smile. I tilted my head, feeling intrigued by the unique looking woman. That was honestly the only description that seemed to fit her.
If I had to guess, she was around my age and stood taller. Her structure was very waif-like, covered in a long pale blue tunic and leggings that only seemed to make her look more ethereal. Her tan skin clashed with her white eyes in a stunningly unique fashion. Even if those white eyes seemed to look straight through me, making me feel… well, not unsettled, but it was definitely different. The most unique aspect about her, though? Her rainbow colored hair. It was pulled into a relaxed waterfall style showing off a mixture of purple, greens, oranges, blues, and pinks. It was almost unreal looking, but I had a feeling it was natural.
“Hello there,” she offered softly and immediately I felt her magic fill the space smelling oddly like berries. What the heck was this lady?
“Colette, this is Isla,” Hunter offered, “she is our pack’s seer, came to us a few years back.” I immediately offered my hand as she met it firmly but without looking away, which made me wonder if she could see or not. I know that sounded like an odd assumption but I had a feeling from the way her gaze didn’t shift nor did she blink. That there was something unique about Isla, maybe it was because of her being a seer?
“You’re right,” she said, letting go of my hand, “I can’t see. Well, that’s not completely true. I can’t see as you do. Although I am sure you understand that. I had seen that we would have a new Luna soon but our pack is blessed that you came to us with the gift of telepathy, that’s very unique.”
I blinked in surprise and she continued, “I have to go now, Luna. But please come by anytime. I live on the edge of the packlands near the river. I know we will need to talk soon.”
With a small head nod towards Huner, she was gone.
What the hell?
“Isla is... different.” Hunter explained quietly. “Commander Axel, one of our lead enforcers, found her on one of his first night shifts. She had been practically frozen and left for dead floating in the river. She’d been only seventeen at the time, four years later and she has become fundamental to our pack. Helps us avoid a lot of conflict with the humans.”
I followed as the woman walked towards a table, sitting down next to a massive man completely dressed in black. His eyes were glued to her the entire time. She said something to him, his hand snuck out to tug on her hair gently. How much did we want to bet that was Axel? I smirked noticing some of the other men near him watching her as well, not that I could completely blame them.
“I’ve never seen anyone like her,” I admitted honestly. I really had thought she was younger but she was closer
