The Tracker Hive Academy Year One - Avery Song Page 0,54
"Well, I'm sure all it will be is testing. Not to be rude, but the Maxwells deserve better." She flicked her hair and stood a little taller, puffing her chest.
"Better what? Boobs?" I questioned trying to determine what bra size she was. "Even with you puffing your chest like that, I have bigger breasts."
I few students snickered to our left, and Sallie's face was so red, I wondered if she was holding her breath.
"If we're talking about Jade's chest and ass, she scores an A-plus in my book."
Sallie turned her head over her shoulder, just as Zeke and I exchanged a look, noticing that Zeus was back with a tray holding my freshly made burger.
He looked even more annoyed that Sallie was in his seat, arching an eyebrow at her and looking down to the chair she sat in.
She quickly got out of his seat, offering for him to sit. "H-here you go, Zeke. Welcome back."
Zeus just stared at her, glancing over to the two of us. He paused his gaze on the real Zeke, who had the biggest smirk on his face.
With an eye roll, Zeus walked forward and slid the chair to his right, the move graceful but strong enough for it to slide right into the group of individuals sitting at the table next to us.
More than a few people looked our way, but Zeus didn't care as he placed the tray down and slid it in front of me.
"Sorry it took so long. The cafeteria lady wanted my autograph."
"Thank you." I beamed at his compassion, staring at the burger like it was one of a kind. "I'll be quick. We need to pass by the lockers."
"Cool," he replied, still ignoring Sallie, who at this point must have been so embarrassed it wasn't processing at all.
"Z-Zeke." Sallie's voice was squeakier, which only made it louder and more attention-grabbing. Poor Zeus was going to pop a vein with how angry he looked.
"Why can't anyone tell us apart," he grumbled under his breath and looked to Sallie.
"Yes?"
"Um. I-I was wondering if maybe—"
"Get to the point," Zeus huffed. "What dumb event are you trying to invite me to?"
I hid my smirk by taking a bite of my burger. Zeke was having the time of his life, taking the seat next to me, and casually leaning back to watch the show while his right hand lightly rested on my leg.
Man, his touch alone makes me excited. Imagine hugging. Or dancing. Hmm. I'm gonna convince Shadow Jade to let me go to this party. If Zeus follows the plan.
"It's a party. At my three-story mansion on Boulevard. We're only inviting a few chosen individuals and were wondering if you and your brothers would want to come?"
Zeus sighed. "When?"
Sallie clapped her hands and her face lit up like a puppy. "Next Friday! It would be awesome if you can come with your brothers," she offered.
Zeus looked at Zeke, whose finger was running circles along my skin while I multitasked at eating, listening, and attempting to breathe at a normal rate with how Zeke was teasing me.
"Zeus hates parties," Zeus declared, making me smile.
They must be exchanging thoughts.
"Zackery has a basketball game that night and Zion has a video game tournament. I can come, though," he explained.
"It would be amazing if you did." Sallie blinked her eyes, trying to pull off some form of seduction.
Zeus looked at me. "Are you going?"
"I wasn—"
"Of course, Jade's going," Sallie laughed, giving me a wide smile. "I was just telling her that she and her twin are both invited, but she was saying she has a date with Zeus."
Another arched eyebrow headed my way, but I’d already finished my burger and was patting my mouth with a napkin.
"Correct. I have a date with Zeus," I purred, leaning a little closer to Zeke for added emphasis. "We're testing the waters."
"Yup," Zeke agreed. "However, you should go. Parties are your thing and the rest of us will be out and about doing our own things. Jade's twin is going. Keep her company."
Sallie didn't look pleased with that comment, but she quickly hid her displeasure.
"Fine," Zeus sighed. "I'll come. Next Friday. The three-story mansion," he clarified.
"Yes, that one. You know all the rich kids live on that block," she bragged.
"I know." Zeus shrugged. "One of our homes is at the end of the block. Should only take five minutes to get there."
Sallie's jaw dropped open, and I could already hear the whispers from the tables around us. "Y-you mean the huge,
