The Tracker Hive Academy Year One - Avery Song Page 0,53
knew who they were. I made up their group name.
It does feel cool to hear it being used by others. I wonder if the guys mentioned it and someone picked it up?
"The Quad," she replied.
The silence continued between us.
"The Maxwell brothers," she huffed.
"Ah!" I emphasized with a little bob of my head. "Nice name for them. They are pretty troublesome to tell apart."
I leaned back into my seat, pulling my phone out to check my messages. I'm sure Zeus was taking some time since they made the burgers fresh and they were eight-ounce patties.
"Whatever," the girl brushed off my comment. "Where's your twin?"
"Hmm?" I questioned, looking up from my phone.
"Your twin. The weird one."
"We're both weird," I replied.
"Jeez, I know that. The one that sings that stupid kill song like a lunatic."
"She sings it as a theme song to hype her up before slicing the throats of people she doesn't like," I said in a deadpan tone.
Sallie's eyes went wide for a moment, and I smirked in return, loving how her skin slightly paled by my statement.
"I'm joking," I said with a cheery voice. "Can't take a joke?"
I bet Sallie wanted to groan in response, but she held her tongue. "Do you know where your twin is, or not?"
"Of course I know where she is," I replied, lifting my hand to tap my right temple. "Right up here."
"Me? Need?" Shadow Jade asked.
Her voice was thick with sleep, as though she'd already begun her nap.
No, Shadow Jade. Go sleep. We can kill people later.
"Kill. Sleep," she mumbled in return, her presence fading.
Sallie crossed her arms over her chest and glared at me. "Where did she go?"
"Somewhere over the rainbow where the valley of 'none of your business' lies in wait," I replied. "I'll happily forward a message to her."
Sallie looked unsatisfied but sat up and smoothed out her white uniform dress shirt.
"We'd like to invite her to a party that’s happening next week, on Friday night."
"Next week?" I thought about it, realizing it would be the week I was taking classes with Zeke.
Having a little play time at a party would be fun.
"She should be free." I shrugged. "I'll let her know."
"You can't come though," Sallie said with triumph.
"Why?" I arched an eyebrow at her. I wasn't offended. I found this extremely amusing and couldn't wait for Shadow Jade to wake up for me to recap the situation to her.
"We want the cool twin. Not the slutty one who's tailing the Trouble Four."
"Tailing?" I ignored her slut comment.
It was a common assumption jealous girls made, when they saw one girl around a group of sexy, smart guys who they knew weren't looking in their direction. "Is that one of those new terms? Or are you referring to chasing, because I don't chase."
I could see her eye twitch again, making my grin widen before I sighed.
"Anyway. I'll let her know. I have a date that night," I declared.
"D-date?!" Sallie almost choked on her own saliva. "With who?"
Her eyes were glaring venomously at me, but I merely shrugged, returning to my phone.
"With me," a soothing voice announced.
Someone rested their chin on my shoulder, and I could automatically guess from the way my dark magic spiked that it was Zeke.
"Uh...aren't you Zeus?" Sallie questioned.
"Hmm? Could be." I felt a soft kiss to my right cheek. When I turned to look to my right, it was indeed Zeke with a playful grin that was all too similar to Zackery’s.
From the glint in his eye, he was playing a game and wanted me to follow along.
"Who could you be, hmm?" I hummed in delight, loving how Zeke's lips curled up higher. He leaned up to stand at his full height, his hands in his pockets.
"Where did my bro go?" Zeke wasn't asking me but Sallie, who was fidgeting in her seat.
"Um. I think I saw Zeke walking away eating a wrap earlier. I don't know where he went." Sallie answered nervously, trying to fix her hair even though it hadn’t changed a bit. "I was going to invite you guys to a party."
"Party, huh? I'm not really the party type, but Zeke loves parties. I'll let him know. I, however, have a date with Jade next Friday."
"Y-you two are dating?" she shrieked.
"Maybe. I like testing the waters. Jade is the same, though her sister isn't into anyone yet." Zeke continued to play. "Right, Jade?"
"Yup," I replied with a confident bob of my head.
Sallie's face was so red. She rose up and tried to play it off.
