don’t think we’re stealing it from them.”
“Not at all,” Rosie told him with a shake of her head. “We all know you’re the biggest Trilunium fan in the bunch. I just didn’t have much choice in what to wear since we did it on about five hours’ notice. I’d sold most of my fancy dresses to pay for the taxes on the house, but I had the Emily one from New Year’s Eve.”
“The pictures were amazing,” Minnie told her. “I loved them. I know everyone else did, too.”
“Thanks.” Rosie looked between them. “I’ll let you two eat lunch. We’ll talk more later, Minnie?”
Minnie nodded. “Of course.” She walked Rosie to the door. “I’ll talk to you soon.”
When she turned around, Joss noticed the huge smile on her face. “So your morning went well?”
“Very well.” Minnie joined him in the sitting area. “We had a very nice talk and then went to look around outside.” She sighed with a dreamy look on her face. “It was so nice being outside. The sun on my skin felt amazing.”
Guilt struck him. “I’m sorry you haven’t been outside in so long. I should have found a way. Maybe the roof of the apartment.”
She waved a hand at him. “If it had been much longer, then we definitely should have figured something out, but it’s fine. I did stand there just letting the sun soak in for a few minutes.”
He handed her the other plate along with the silverware wrapped in a linen napkin. “I don’t have a whole lot of time. I texted, but you left your phone here.”
Minnie’s nose wrinkled in an adorable fashion that made him want to kiss her again. “I realized that when I went to take some pictures. Rosie’s going to send them to me later. I also need a key or something so I can lock the door when I leave. I figured it probably wasn’t a huge deal, but I know you usually do.”
Joss chuckled. “I usually do because I don’t want my brother barging in on me. Hopefully, now that I’m married, he’ll be a little more cautious about that.”
Even though they weren’t doing the kinds of things that would necessitate a knock first. They hadn’t talked about that at all.
“I’d hope so.”
Maybe they needed to.
Before he could bring it up, or at least mention that they needed to discuss it later, the timer on Joss’s phone buzzed.
“Time to go,” he told her with a sigh. “I’ll text you when I figure out what time I should be done in the office. I do think it’s best that you stay out of the public and administrative areas as much as possible. The staff won’t say anything, but those areas are far less controlled in terms of who is in and out.”
Minnie nodded as she took a sip of her water. “I agree. But really, it’s just so nice to be able to go anywhere else, or even outside.”
“I’ll have security come up and make sure you’ve got the map of the palace on your phone.”
She sank back against the cushions of the lounge with an exaggerated sigh of relief. “Oh, my word. That would be amazing. As Rosie and I walked around I kept thinking I needed to tie a string to the door handle so I could find my way back if I got lost.”
Joss laughed. “It can be a bit confusing if you don’t know where you’re going. I grew up here and still have to stop and think occasionally, especially if I’m in a part of the palace I don’t visit often.”
“That’s a relief.” She sat back up and cut a bite of chicken. “I hope you have a good afternoon.”
Joss leaned over and gave her a soft kiss. “I hope you do, too. I’ll send security up or have someone take you down there to get your phone and tablet all set up for the palace. Then you can order dinner and such from it, too, if you’d like.”
After another quick kiss, he stood. “I’ll talk to you in a little while.”
On his way back to his office, he messaged security and asked them to take a look at her devices. Once at his desk and working, he wasn’t terribly surprised by his brother walking through the door between their offices.
Caleb flopped down on one of the chairs while Joss finished reading the page he was on. “Rosie told me a little bit about her conversation with Minnie this morning,” his brother
