Secrets of a Prince (The Princes of New Sargasso #3) - Carol Moncado Page 0,24
a dramatic sigh. “All right. I’ll watch for the announcement.”
With a laugh, he started for the door. “I doubt you’ll miss it. It won’t be big in the scheme of the world, but it’ll be big enough you won’t be able to miss it. I’ll see you soon and text you later.”
“Thanks for stopping by.” She held up her mug. “And making coffee.”
He grinned at her. “My pleasure.”
For the next several hours, he made appearances then had dinner with his family, a last moment of calm before the craziness of wedding week.
Once back in his apartment - with the door locked again - he logged onto his tablet and the chat program. Purposefully, he didn’t log into the TriluniMunity chat room, but did a search to see if NotCharlotte55 was online.
She popped up in the search. He clicked to send her a private message, just asking how she was doing.
Life’s been hard, but it’s looking up.
Good to hear.
His fingers hovered over the Bluetooth keyboard. He’d given Minnie a head’s up about something big coming on Monday, but she didn’t even know it was Trilunium related. If he told NotCharlotte55, she would know it was.
No. He couldn’t tell her. She’d hear quickly after the announcement was made.
How about you? Your said real life was keeping you from writing.
Her message made him pause. She was the only one who knew he posted stories under his other username, but how much did he want to reveal of his actual life?
Just a lot going on. Everything’s good, just unexpectedly super busy.
For about an hour they messaged back and forth, talking about everything and nothing. Definitely nothing too deep or important.
But it still felt off in a way it never had before. He wondered why.
He tried to decide if he should tell her about his change in marital status, despite the fact they never talked about personal matters.
Instead, they talked about politics, weather, books, movies, plays, and restaurants. He did ask if she’d be watching the royal wedding on Friday.
I’ll be watching with bells on.
He laughed out loud in his sitting room. That’s quite an image. Do you have to take off work to be able to watch? I know noon isn’t exactly convenient for everyone. It’s practically a national holiday, but not quite since he’s not the crown prince.
It took a minute to get a response. No. I don’t have to take off work to watch the wedding.
Was that part of the delay? Did she not want him to know she didn’t have a job or one so part time she didn’t need to take the afternoon off to watch the wedding?
Or maybe she’d just been in another window. It didn’t have to be anything more than that.
What about you? Will you be watching?
Joss smiled. I’ll be watching the wedding. From the front row. Maybe the second. He didn’t actually know where he’d be sitting.
Sounds like almost everyone will, or will watch it later. Wonder what it would be like to have a wedding with so many people watching. I don’t think I’d like that. It’s almost like everyone’s waiting for you to screw up. Like watching a train wreck. Watching mostly to see what might go wrong.
He’d never thought about it like that, though Joss wasn’t upset his wedding to Minnie had been short, sweet, and to the point.
I don’t think that’s what it is in this case. There might be a few people like that, but I think most of them are caught up in the fairy tale aspects of it. My mother and sister are, at least. The meet cute (that’s what it’s called, so I’m told) at a café. The prince pursuing the ordinary girl and falling in love only for her to find out she’s the heir to this amazing estate - in this case, the Trilunium intellectual property rather than a kingdom, but the concept holds.
He waited for her response.
Maybe. I agree that they have a cool story. She seems very nice and the family really seems to like her, from what I’ve seen anyway. She appears seems to love Prince Gideon, too.
Joss stared at the screen for a moment before typing.
They really are perfect for each other. If only we could all be so lucky.
Her response came a few seconds later.
Not lucky. Blessed. International wedding spectacle aside, if only we could all be so blessed as to find someone we love and who loves us in return - that’s my ultimate dream.
