he let out a breath, laughing. “Someday,” he said with a grin, looking down at Hailey. “I’m definitely not letting her get away.”
He caught the look on Blake’s face though as he looked back at his teammates, doing a double take. “Wait, hold up. Raptor, you two are engaged?”
Clarissa smiled up at Blake, looking around the room at everyone else. “Not officially yet. We’re going ring shopping next weekend,” she said happily.
“We weren’t going to announce it until I bought her a ring and popped the question for real,” Blake said with a grin. “But hell yeah, we’re getting married.”
“You’ve got a damn bad poker face,” Grayson said with a chuckle. “I knew something was up the second I looked over at you. Congratulations!”
“Congrats, man!” Troy said, walking over and clapping him on the back. The others joined him to shake Blake’s hand and hug Clarissa. Jackson hung back the longest, still lost in thought, but he eventually strode over to them as well to offer his congratulations.
Grayson and Hailey were left standing alone, and he glanced down at her. “Did that freak you out when I said that?” he asked. “That I don’t want to let you get away?”
“Not at all,” she said, shaking her head. “It’s too soon for us to get engaged right now, but someday? Absolutely.”
“Thank God,” Grayson said, ducking down and softly kissing her. Her vanilla scent filled his nostrils, and she looked cuter than hell with her hair piled atop her head, all mussed up. She kissed him again, sweetly, and he pulled her closer. Their friends were celebrating across the room and his girl was in his arms, moving into his apartment with him. Life didn’t get any better than this.
“I love you,” Hailey whispered, looking up at him.
Grayson tucked a stray auburn strand behind her ear, gazing into her green eyes. “I love you, too. This has been the craziest month of my life—”
“But it was all worth it to find you,” she interrupted, tears smarting her eyes.
“Don’t cry,” he said huskily, kissing her softly. He thumbed away the tears that slid down her cheeks, kissing her again for good measure.
“I’m just so happy,” she said.
“So am I, sweetheart. And our life together is just getting started.”
