“How am I looking at you?” He brushed a few wisps of hair back from her face, watching her the entire time. Hollywood wasn’t going to do anything she didn’t want him to do. He’d seen the way she looked at him, loved the need she couldn’t hide.

“Like that.”

He chuckled at her words. Some things never change, no matter what. Talena hated to be confronted and not having the answer when she was. “I’m gonna need a little more than that but let’s save it until we’re inside. Besides I’m thirsty and want to get the fuck out of these clothes.”

A blush stole up her neck and into her cheeks. He was all too aware how far that beautiful hue went, having seen her in all her naked glory. Shit, he needed to quit thinking of her without any clothes on until he got them inside his home.

“Come on,” he said, threading his fingers through hers. At the door, he placed his other palm on the electronic plate, waiting for it to read his signature.

The reinforced steel door slid open. He watched Talena take in his security measures, waiting for her to ask him questions, or say something about him being overly precautious. Seconds ticked by while he moved in through the mudroom, kicking his boots off. His feet felt better immediately when they touched the cool tiles. It didn’t escape his notice he hadn’t released his hold on her, yet she still hadn’t said a word or protested him keeping her tethered to his side. Which was good because he had no plans of letting her out of his sight for, well, if he had his way she’d be within his view for a long motherfucking time after the shit he witnessed tonight.

“Scott, your grip is a little tight?”

Her soft voice pulled him from his dark thoughts, making him grimace as he realized what he’d done. “I’m sorry, baby girl. Come on. I need a drink. Are you hungry?”

“Thirsty, but not hungry.”

He looked down at her, noticing the faint lines of exhaustion on her beautiful face. Fuck looking at her had him wanting to do all kinds of things, none of them pure, and none wanting to allow her to rest. “When did you sleep last?”

“Hollywood, would you stop mother-henning me? I eat when I’m hungry, and I sleep when I’m tired. I don’t need you to nag me. Trust me, I learned my lesson.” She put her hand over her mouth.

“What the hell are you talking about, learned your lesson?” He stared down at her, watching her look everywhere but at him, the beautiful blush he loved turning crimson. He felt as if something huge had happened, and he was the only one who was in the dark. “You know I won’t let this go until I know what I want.”

“Please, Scott, I really don’t want to rehash things best left in the past.” She licked her lips and wobbled on her feet.
