Rocker (Cerberus MC #13) - Marie James Page 0,68

with a round brush so it shines with a little extra volume.

All of this because I feel like it, of course.

I don’t gasp when I walk out of the bathroom and find Rocker sitting on my bed. I’m not surprised he’s here. Both of those guys don’t understand personal boundaries, but neither of them feels like a threat to me.

“Can I help you?”

His eyes skate down my legs, his tongue snaking out to trace his lower lip. And just like that I’m turned on. That’s all it takes, the simple swipe of that talented tongue and I’m ready to drop my towel and spread my legs for him. Too bad he’s not been very good with follow-through lately.

“Your room still smells like that sweet pussy of yours.”

And maybe he won’t even have to touch me to get me off.

“How many times did you make yourself come last night?”

I’m twitchy, shifting my weight from one foot to the other.

“Hmm?” His head finally lifts, blue eyes meeting mine. “Four? Five?”

“About that many,” I answer, my voice breathy and low. There’s no sense in lying to him or acting coy. I was loud enough to get a complaint from the neighbor, I’m sure.

“Are you pissed at me?”

“About what? For walking away the second you found out you weren’t the father? Being gone for two weeks with no contact? For listening to Jinx? For not coming in here last night?”

“Yeah.”

“Of course, I am.”

“I deserve that.”

“And more,” I add just to be spiteful, but my long list of grievances reveals more about me than it does him.

“I want to date you.”

“Fuck me,” I clarify.

“Date you.”

“You don’t date.”

“Many things have changed.”

“Because Jinx gave you permission?”

“It was only a matter of time.”

“It’s been a lonely two weeks.”

“I know.”

“Staying away from me doesn’t really scream dating. Keeping your distance doesn’t really make me think you’re the type of man who is interested in something long term.” Instinctively, my hand sweeps low on my belly. “I’m no longer interested in wild nights and cheap thrills. I have more to worry about now.”

“We both do.”

“And you just want to date?”

“There are a fucking million things I want to do with you, Simone.” He stands from the bed, and I shiver with anticipation as he nears me. “Probably a couple million things.”

He doesn’t touch me as he circles around me, but his hot breath skates over my skin like a silken caress.

“Do you want to date me?”

“Can you list some of those things?” I urge, wanting to hear every dirty thought in that handsome head of his.

“Date first,” he specifies. “Then we can get to the other stuff.”

“So, no sex?”

I tremble when he sweeps my hair off to one side. Either I’m hard up or this man is an expert in seduction.

“No sex.”

It feels like a challenge, and as much as I should step away and tell him to eat dirt because of the way he’s acted recently, I can’t help but let myself think about the way he’s always made me feel. Only my mind doesn’t just go back to the out-of-this-world sex we’ve had, I also think about the way he held me in the hospital. The way he was there for me during my recovery. The way he used to watch me, making sure I ate enough or drank enough. The way his eyes would light up when he’d spot me across the bar.

“I miss sex,” I confess as I let my towel drop to my feet. Sex talk I can handle. It’s the emotional stuff that I’m not ready for.

“Me too.”

Two words are his confession. He isn’t seeing anyone else, isn’t sleeping with other women. I find that I love knowing that.

“Twice,” he whispers when I take a step toward my dresser.

“Hmm?”

With as much seduction as I can muster, I look over my shoulder at him.

“I got off twice last night listening to you come. I came in here after you fell asleep, but when I opened the door, the entire room smelled like that honey-sweet cunt of yours. I knew if I climbed in bed with you, I’d end up between your thighs.”

“That would’ve been nice.”

“Simone.” There’s a warning in his voice, but before I can make a few suggestions on how we can spend our day before I have to clock in at work, my phone rings.

I ignore it, but Rocker turns his head to glare at the offensive thing on my bedside table. Wanting his full attention back on me, I walk over and
