confess to them both what I had stolen from them that day I was first introduced to their child. However, when the moment came, I found myself passing it by and continuing on,
“This meant that I possessed the blood of the Titans. but it also meant that in exchange, I left something of mine behind… that same key.”
“Ewww, you mean your arm is still there… sorry, not important,” Keira added quickly after Dom shot her a look.
“So, you believe he is trying to find the Keystone?” Dom asked, remembering all too well that day we defeated the Titans.
“But what good can it do, the Titans are all gone, and I should know, seeing I was the bad ass that buried them under a mountain that day,” Keira added proudly.
“I am not entirely sure what his main goal is exactly, all I know is that when I sacrificed my hand, I unknowingly unleashed an infection upon the Tree of Souls,” I said, then went on to explain to them of Lucifer's five-hundred-year-old punishment, and what began this chain of events.
“So, he wants to gain back this power… but won't he do that as soon as he transfers the souls onto him?” Keira asked, keeping track of all that was happening.
“I believe so, yes,” I answered, making Dom ask,
“Then what does he need with the Keystone, and what does this have to do with the Titans?” I release a frustrated breath and said,
“In truth, I don’t know what he plans. All I know is that he needs the power of the Crimson Eye, one that is now connected to Amelia.” Keira sucked in a quick breath as Dom snapped,
“How the fuck did that happen!?” I explained the events I had left out, which I felt unimportant at the time, only now going through yet another time that Amelia had managed to get herself taken.
“Fucking Harpies!” Dom hissed, making Keira add,
“Yeah, they didn’t like me all that much the last time I saw them and well, something tells me that Amelia might have paid for that grudge against me with that one.” I didn’t tell her that I agreed, but instead went on to tell them what came after and how the Eye had made her its keeper.
“It also meant that in doing so, it gave Matthias another means of gaining this power. For at first he would have needed me…”
“And this Crimson Eye, what is it exactly?” Keira asked.
“The God Janus…”
“Oh, I know that guy… he's actually really nice… well, eh… he was with me,” Keira added this last part after Dom held the bridge of his nose in frustration, and I granted her a look. Of course, Dom’s frustration came at being reminded of any time Keira went behind his back and took a trip through time. Thus, putting her life at risk and using the power of the Janus Gate to do this.
I opened my mouth about to explain, when Dom got there first, and thankfully did so quickly. He explained how the Eye was born through the rage of Janus, the God of Time and ruler of the Fates. It was even linked to Romulus, the first King of Rome who, like Tullus, had made a grave mistake in his rule and angered the Gods.
Janus in particular.
Of course, mass murder and kidnapping of woman would do that. So, Janus cried tears of blood that seeped into Hell and created the Eye through his anger at what mortal life had become.
Janus punished those responsible and left behind a piece of himself, a large red stone, sparkling in the ash remains of those slaughtered. One of the survivors, a woman who Janus had saved, was the person he deemed worthy enough to pick up the stone. Only when she did, she saw a glimpse of the future. A war that would kill many. So, instead of running away when she had the chance, she tried to change the future. Through her compassion, she put an end to the chance at war by marrying the King and changing his wicked ways. After this point, the God Janus thought it best to hide the Eye away, back to the depths of Hell, where it had been born from…
Tartarus.
Many years later, I was to become its keeper but now that guardianship had transferred onto Amelia, and in it the control of utter rage. For this was a by-product of its making, for it did not only show you the future, it also brought forth
