Queen Of Sins - Stephanie Hudson Page 0,61

that led to a large shoulder piece. It was a silver-coloured leather armour that looked inscribed with demonic symbols and runes. Attached to this were armoured sections running down the full length of his arm until they met with a black gauntlet-covered hand. And well, there was one thing for certain, he looked ready for war.

Attached to this strange-coloured leather armour was a hood, that cast parts of his face in an eerie shadow, although I could see more of his features this time. A face that looked aged, not just with time, but through the knowledge of being an obvious outcast from his father. His greyish beard was trimmed to a point, and speckled with black. He had a prominent nose, high cheekbones and dark eyes that were hooded under a prominent brow. It gave him the appearance of a knowing look, as if he had delved into all of your secrets and could read your mind.

“I must say, I was sceptical when Dalene told me she could get you back to the Tree of Souls, but here you are, just like she promised. But then again, Lucius is nothing if not predictable.” I sneered at him as he approached and said,

“Ah, and let me guess, this is the part in the movie where you talk smack about my boyfriend, tell us your evil plan and then we fight, get away, and then stop your psycho ass at the end with minutes to spare… that sound about right?” I nudged Clay who had his massive arms folded and with a nod, said,

“Yeah, sounds right to me, Princess.”

Matthias obviously didn’t take too kindly to my smart mouth as he scowled back at me, as if he was a busted vein away from possessing the power to drill a hole in my head. But then, I was annoying like that, because what these egotistical bad guys wanted to see was us cowering in fear and begging for mercy. But what he got in me was a smart mouth and an army of three stood by my side.

Though I couldn't help wondering what we must have looked like, as we stood in a line facing the enemy. There was Ruto, who looked like a teenage punk, dressed all in black and looking more ready for a rock concert than a kick ass fight. He rolled his slim shoulders and as always, his fingers worked a blade in between them as was his habit. Yet his bright turquoise eyes didn't seem to miss a thing as they homed in on the enemy, just waiting for him to make the first move against us. He even tapped one of his studded army boots impatiently on the cracked floor. One where you could just see the black infected roots beneath that had lifted and cracked the stone slabs above.

As for Caspian, as usual he looked unimpressed, with his unnerving white eyes ringed with black and the dot of his pupil in the middle, making you sense the danger within him. His hair was like metal wire, pulled back from his forehead and held at the base of his skull in a twisted man bun. High cheekbones and features filled with metal piercings gave him the bad ass appearance, tattoos and metal, like the bar at the bridge of his nose, ring at the centre of his lip and silver balls either side of his chin. He had the height of Ragnar and the muscle to go along with it.

I confess, I always wondered what he was, questioning whether he was like Ragnar and one of the great Devourers. They were known to be exceptionally large, so it would make sense. As for what he wore, black strips were wound around his hands as if he was about to step out of a club into an alleyway, ready for a dirty street fight. These matched the thick leather cuffs attached to his forearms, and a black T-shirt with a faded grey skull in the centre, along with a pair of dark jeans and biker boots completing the look.

Clay, on the other hand, was stood in the middle with his arms folded, just waiting for Matthias to make his move and looking bored whilst doing it. Of course, this didn't detract from the fact that he was still the most gorgeous black man I'd ever seen, and with those unusual navy-blue eyes of his, he could quite literally melt the panties off any girl they chose to
