outside, but that still pisses me off. That being said, I’ll be keeping our sexual activities inside. I’ll be damned if someone gets off to Giana and me.
“You okay, angel?” I ask once we’re safely ensconced in my blacked-out Tahoe. It’s fully bulletproof, and right now it’s giving me some sort of peace. I don’t recall the drive over, the trek upstairs, or anything. It wasn’t till my eyes landed on Giana that my heart started beating normally again.
“Yeah, but are you?” Giana asks. Her eyes aren’t the bright color they usually are. In fact, it looks like she’s more tired than ever. Maybe this is too much for her. Not that I’d give her a chance to part ways, but if it came down to her safety, I’d put her in a safehouse until I scoured the ends of Virginia, hell, the earth to find this dirt bag.
“I’m fine. Pissed as hell. What do you say we go back to the office for a while? I know it’s not a bundle of joy to be there, but until we figure how they got eyes on us, I think it’s best.” I move her so she’s straddling my lap while I’m in the driver’s seat. I need her to be as close to me as possible, cupping the sides of her neck, pulling her closer. “I’m sorry, Giana, so fucking sorry. I don’t know what or who could be behind this, but that fear I saw in your eyes when I picked you up, it tore me up. I promise I’ll do whatever I can to keep you safe.”
“Oh, Drake.” She holds my wrists. “This is not a reflection of you. None whatsoever. Who knows if this is even about you? It could be anything, and let’s face it, this person is totally and completely fucked up in the head,” she jokes.
“You’re not wrong. We’ll get through this, and we’ll come out on top.”
“Of course, we will. Our love shines brighter than the brightest star,” she tells me.
“Fuck yeah. I love you, Giana Duncan. I’m going to love you for the rest of our lives too.
“I love you, Drake, more than anything.” I kiss her, needing to show her just how much her words mean to me. I taste her, sip by slow sip. It’s not a slow build-up, instead it’s hot and heavy. Both of us needing this moment.
This woman, she’s going to be the mother of our children. We’ll grow old together and still wake up in love every single day.
“I need you, Drake,” Giana pleads as our kiss ends. There’s no way that will be happening right now.
“As much as I want to be balls deep inside you—this morning wasn’t near enough, by the way—it’s going to have to wait until we get back to the office at least,” I grumble, already thinking if this stalker weren’t pulling their shit, I’d have us naked and feeling her skin slide against my own. I’m definitely going to go back to this.
“This sucks, but then again, sex on your office desk, that could be hot.” She wiggles her eyebrows.
“Could be?” My mouth finds the column of her throat. I suck on it, not bruising her but letting her know in no uncertain terms that will be happening. I nip at the place I was sucking on. It causes her to grind down on my lap.
“Okay, fine, it’ll be the hottest sex we’ve ever had,” she says after I let up on her.
“Damn straight.” She crawls over the center console. It gives me the perfect opportunity to smack her ass. Another one of those things that heightens our sex. Giana was meant for me, plain and simple. And I’ll go to the ends of the earth to keep her with me, always.
Sixteen
Giana
I couldn’t wait to get back to Drake’s office after we both admitted to our feelings. The only thing I wanted was him, in every way possible.
Too bad that isn’t going to happen. We step inside Nighthawk Security. Kellie, Bridger, Slade, and Easton are standing at the entrance.
“Fuck, what is it now?” Drake groans. His hand is on my hip, squeezing it, and if I had to guess, he doesn’t realize how firmly he’s holding me.
“Easton was able to trace the call. I got to the location. The cell phone was lying on the ground. It’s a disposable. Slade is about to take it to the lab and see if they can get some fingerprints off of it,” Bridger
