get some shut-eye,” Taylor said.
“Yes, we’ve all been doing a lot today,” Arnold agreed.
With everything going on, I didn’t think I’d be able to sleep, but my body needed to rest, and I quickly fell asleep, surrounded by my Guardians.
Chapter Fifteen
“The pack will help us for sure,” Gary said with a nod.
“The Alphas of the other packs will likely help as well since you are Thornton’s adopted daughter,” Nick said.
I nodded. “We just need to get the younger pack members away so they don’t get involved.”
“The pack has enough land to house everyone, and the humans won’t bother us,” Gary added.
“It’s a decent plan,” Nick said and smiled broadly. “I’m proud of you.”
I tried not to let it show how much his words affected me, but was certain I totally failed.
“Right, so how do we get into contact with the others, but ensure we don’t find anymore Mo’s?” I asked.
Nick and Gary growled.
They’d punched a few trees after I told them about Mo trying to kill Chelle and that I’d had to kill him.
“I can send messages to those I am certain are on our side,” Sean said. “I will ask them to pass it along as well. We might get a mole or two, but by then, we should be ready for any attacks that come, and we won’t leave you unprotected long enough for anyone else to try to hurt you.”
“I’ll stay by her side twenty-four-seven,” Nick said. “No one will have an opportunity to harm her.”
My cheeks warmed at the thought of constantly sharing a bed with him and the others who were also adamant they wouldn’t leave me alone.
“And once the witches or vampires come, we kill them,” Sean said, smiling wide. “So much fun. I never thought I would get to enjoy a full-scale battle like this when I wasn’t one of your chosen Guardians.”
“Maybe we don’t need chosen Guardians,” I said. “Maybe we just need packs or towns where we can all be together to ensure we are all safe from humans and old adults who can’t let the past go.”
“Agreed,” Caleb said with a nod.
“I like the idea of having a town full of only supernaturals. Our town would definitely be a great place to start,” Tom said with a wide smile. “I can’t wait to go back.”
“It’s not a social visit,” Gary reminded him.
Tom rolled his eyes. “I know that. I just know that area best and it will give me an advantage.”
Yes, being on our home turf would give us a huge advantage.
I just needed to convince the Alphas of the other packs to assist us. Dad was apparently still back at the Academy, so I would have to figure it out all on my own.
Well, not just my own since I had my Guardians with me.
“Okay, let’s head back towards the school to grab one of our cars, and then drive home,” Nick said.
“We’ll keep her a few miles away to ensure she isn’t detected by the Triune,” Caleb said. “I don’t want those three getting their hands on her. I’m not sure what they can do, but they are very powerful.”
“Are you sure we need the cars?” I asked. “Couldn’t we just steal one?”
Nick scowled at me. “You want to steal a vehicle?”
“I don’t want you getting caught or hurt,” I said. “You or anyone else.” I looked around at the group with us. “Can’t we ask one of those still there to drive out and meet us?”
Sean tapped his chin. “Maybe. I bet I could get one of my friends to meet us. That would be better than risking one of you getting caught. If you’re already tied to her and you get caught, she’s going to come after you.”
I scowled. “If you got caught, I would come after you, too.”
His eyes widened. “What?”
“You’re my friend, right? I do not abandon my friends.”
Nick growled, but didn’t say anything and stared at the ground.
“Okay, let me contact them and see what can be done,” Sean said.
“Don’t give them any information other than what is necessary,” Gary growled.
Sean rolled his eyes. “Yeah, I got it.”
We watched him walk away and I sat on the ground, burying my head in my hands. Being responsible for others was not something I wanted. Now, I was responsible for so many people.
If this plan failed, I would have so many deaths, so much blood, on my hands.
“Hey,” Tom whispered and pulled me into his lap to hug me. “It’s going to be okay. Your
