Mom. Don’t make us worry about you anymore than we already are. You gave us a scare. Plus, if you aren’t with Tommy anymore, you shouldn’t be alone.”
I knew damn well why Nathan was offering his house as I stood there narrowing my eye at him and at the smirk across his face.
“Plus, Mason will be there if there’s an issue. Right, Mason?” He smiled.
“That’s actually a good idea, Mom. Mason is medically trained. I would feel better knowing he was there just in case,” Elijah spoke.
“Yeah, Mom. It’s a good idea,” I spoke as I placed my hand on hers.
“Fine. I’ll stay with you and Nathan tonight and tonight only.”
“Great. I’ll go call Allison and let her know,” Nathan said as he walked out of the room.
I followed him out and stood there while he talked to Allison. Once he ended the call, I punched him in the arm.
“Bro, enough with the fucking hitting.”
“You did that on purpose to get me back for smacking you upside the head.” I pointed at him.
“Maybe.” He smirked. “But honestly, I’m blown away she broke it off with Tommy and never said a word about it. We need to keep an eye on her.”
“I know.” I sighed.
“Hey, Dr. Davis.” Nathan grinned as she passed by.
“Nathan.” She nodded.
“Change your mind yet about that drink?” I asked.
“Nope.” She continued walking away.
Nathan chuckled and I when I went to smack him, he grabbed my hand.
“Don’t even think about it.”
“Will you two grow the fuck up,” Elijah said as he walked over to us. “We need to be here for Mom now.”
Chapter 5
Mason
After we brought our mother back to Nathan’s and got her settled, Nathan, Elijah and I decided it would be a good idea to go to Rudy’s for a couple of drinks. Between last night and today, I needed the whole damn bottle. My mother insisted we went, and Allison and Aspen were both there if any issues arose.
We were sitting at the table kicking back our drinks when I looked over at the door and saw Sara walk in with a few of the girls from the hospital. Her hair was down in sexy waves that flowed over her shoulders. Fuck. I thought she looked sexy in scrubs, but to see her in jeans and a tight-fitting top was too much for my cock to handle.
“Look who just walked in.” I gestured.
Nathan and Elijah turned around and then looked back at me.
“I guess she did have plans on getting drinks tonight. Just not with you.” Nathan chuckled.
“Shut up, douchebag.”
“Go talk to her,” Elijah spoke.
“No.” I picked up my beer.
“What is wrong with you?” he asked. “This isn’t like you. We Wolfe brothers don’t give up that easily. Have I taught you nothing? If you want to fuck her, then pursue her. Nathan didn’t give up on Allison and now look.” He smirked.
“Yeah. No thanks.” I put my hand up. “Maybe her rejecting me was a sign.”
“Dr. Davis!” Nathan yelled and raised his hand.
I was going to kick his ass.
She turned around and walked over to our table.
“Hello again.” She smiled. “How is your mom feeling?”
“A lot better. Thank you,” Elijah spoke.
“So, will you be hanging out a lot here too?” I asked with an attitude.
“I don’t know. This is my first time here.”
“So you weren’t lying when you said you had plans.”
“Actually, I was. They just asked me to come with them about an hour ago.” She smirked.
I could feel the anger burning inside me.
“It was nice to see you guys again. I have to get back to the girls.”
As soon as she walked away, Elijah and Nathan both stared at me.
“Relax, bro. She’s not worth it. No matter how sexy she is,” Nathan spoke with a serious tone.
“I better get going,” Elijah said as he stood up from his seat. “I need to pick up Aspen and Mila and it’s almost Mila’s bedtime. You coming?”
“Yeah,” Nathan said as he stood up.
“You guys go ahead. I’m going to stop by the fire station on my way back.”
“Sure. See you at home, bro,” Nathan said.
Walking up to the bar, I asked Hanna for another beer.
“Coming right up, Mason.” She smiled. “Hey, I heard about your apartment building. I’m really sorry. But I also heard how you saved that little girl.” She smiled.
“Thanks, it’s been a little rough.”
“Are you staying with your mom?”
“Oh god, no.” I laughed. “I’m staying with Nathan until I find another place.”
“Oh boy. You two are trouble.” She winked. “I’ll go get
