still using Nigel.”
“Not any longer.” I grinned. Stellan’s healing power was wrapping around my torso, making me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I laid back into his chest as the warmth spread up my neck and down between my thighs, sending a tingling sensation up to my belly. God, I felt good. I grinned. “Somebody killed him.”
Evanora gasped, her eyes widening. She sat down on the sand, a look of shock on her face, completely flabbergasting me. I’d never seen her so un-refined.
“Well.” She shook her head, staring out at the sand, her throat bobbing. “I guess he’s better off now, then.”
Ivie sat next to Evanora, tossing her iPad to the ground as she placed her hand on Evanora’s in a comforting gesture. “It’s okay, Eva. You know he was suffering.”
I wanted to laugh, I was so happy that that asshole was dead. The thought that Stellan’s healing power was making me a little bit more giddy than the situation called for flit through my mind. The sad look on Evanora’s face though made me reconsider my emotions, and I swallowed down the laughter bubbling up my throat, making it burn.
“Baby, are you okay?” The stubble on Stellan’s chin roughly brushed against my cheek. Suddenly the giddy sensation inside me was gone, replaced by something stronger, more heated. A slow stirring of lust as Stellan’s fingers traced across the skin of my stomach, his breath fawning over my neck. Both Maverick and Rhys’ attention was solely on me, concern etched in their faces.
“Yes,” I breathed, a soft moan escaping my mouth.
Their gazes snapped to Stellan and a scowl formed on Maverick’s face. “Stop it, Stellan.”
Stellan pressed his cheek against mine, closing his eyes as his fingers clenched into my skin. He took in a slow breath, rubbing his scruff over my cheek. “You guys act like I can control this.”
Rhys just stared at us, giving us a heat filled gaze, his fingers clutched at his side.
Stellan slid back, putting some space between us. Maverick leaned down, gripping my hips to heave me up and into his arms. I wrapped my legs around him, looking into his face. “Thank you for saving me.”
Rhys huffed, looking away and a small smile formed on Maverick’s lips. “It was everyone, not just me. But mostly Rhys. I knew that things would go south, so I went to inform Evanora and make sure Stellan was available to heal you, if necessary. Then I went to convince Styx to help us.”
I frowned. “I hope you didn’t have to do anything to convince her.”
He grinned. “No, that was all Nix. He showed up after I did. He was the one who sealed the deal.”
Jealousy billowed in my chest and I scowled. “What did he do to seal the deal?”
“You jealous, Sweets?”
I turned to see Nix walking towards us with the unicorn’s bridle in his hand. For a second, I stared in awe at the beautiful creature before me.
There was a freaking unicorn right before my very eyes.
I squealed out, sliding out of Maverick’s embrace and approached the unicorn. His white coat gleamed in the moonlight and Stellan stepped up next to me, his hand going to the unicorn’s neck to heal him.
The unicorn shuddered as Stellan’s healing power moved over him, then he lowered his head towards Stellan in thanks, the magic of his horn sparkling out like shooting rainbows.
“Can I touch you?” I bowed. I wasn’t sure what the protocol was for the majestic creature but I thought I saw this in a movie or something. I wanted to show it the respect that I was certain Zara hadn’t. I also tried to tamper down the urgent need I was feeling to jump at her and wrap my arms around her neck in a strangling hold. Instead, I settled for bouncing on the tips of my toes.
Snorting softly, it stepped forward, nuzzling my face and I gasped, wrapping my arms around its neck. Its hair was soft, much softer than a horse’s, and I hugged it tightly. That’s when I noticed its belly was extended farther out than was normal and shock coiled through me.
“She’s pregnant.” I turned back towards everyone, who were gathering around the unicorn. Their gazes turned from shock to anger, and several curses were let loose.
“What are we going to do with her?” I asked Nix. “We have to protect her. What if Zara tries to find her again?”
“We’re giving her to Ronit.” Nix wrapped an arm around my waist, pulling
