Lucky Strike (Super Harem #1) - Catherine Banks Page 0,31
took those pictures?”
“I have my suspicions, but no evidence,” he said.
“I’m sorry,” I whispered.
“You have no reason to be sorry. You didn’t send those pictures or post them.”
“No, but now you’re involved in a stupid scandal,” I murmured.
More heroes from the Association showed up. We rushed to Bart and the heroes who arrived began cleaning up the creatures I’d killed.
“I’ve returned.” Alfred informed me, though he was still cloaked so I couldn’t see him.
“Did you tag one?” I asked.
“Yes. Transistor is tracking it and will report his findings to you soon.”
One of the suited Association employees waved at us from the roof.
“Time for you to tell them what happened. What are you going to say about Transistor’s involvement?” Austin asked.
“The truth. Sort of. He was nearby, heard the explosion, and helped me escape the creatures so he could fight them and take samples. It seems that whoever is sending them after me is also Transistor’s enemy and he decided working together was more time effective than fighting me and the creatures,” I answered.
He flew down to the roof and set me down.
A medic ran to me and started cleaning wounds I didn’t know I had.
“We’ll take you back to Headquarters, and you can give us the events there,” the suited man said.
“Understood,” I replied and let them bandage me and take me back to Headquarters.
Surprisingly, they let Austin come without a fight and even allowed him come into the conference room.
A woman in a pantsuit came into the room with three assistants and two guards behind her. She exuded confidence as she sat in the head chair and looked at me.
Our eyes locked and the joy in hers unnerved me.
“We have already filed complaint with the television network and canceled all future interviews with them. We also demanded access to the person who provided them with the pictures. You handled that situation well,” she said.
“Thank you,” I responded. “Who are you?”
“I’m the Deputy Director, well, Director now I suppose. You may call me Sheena.”
She nodded once. “We need you to tell us in detail the events from the time you walked offstage until our team arrived. I understand this may be difficult, but it must be done.”
I relayed the story to her with my edited version of Transistor’s involvement.
One of the other people in the room took down notes.
“Galactic Gargoyle, please give us your information,” Sheena requested.
He told her most of what I said, which was a huge relief. I still needed to talk to him about how he felt knowing I was dating Transistor. I hadn’t had time to talk to any of them about it yet. Our only communications so far had been by phone and I felt like this was an in-person conversation.
She nodded once he was done. “Thank you. Violet Strike, we have cancelled all of your interviews, so please take this time to rest.”
“Will you tell me who the culprit is behind the pictures and the helicopter when you find out?” I asked as I stood.
She nodded. “Certainly.”
Austin and I left the room and headed for our bedrooms. We climbed into an elevator and as soon as the doors closed, he pulled me into a deep kiss.
I kissed him back, melting against him.
He pulled away and said, “I was so worried when I heard your helicopter exploded. I feared the worst.”
“Are you mad about the pictures? About being outed?” I asked biting my lip and staring at his chest.
“No. I’m mad someone took them and outed you like that. I don’t have an issue with our dating being public.”
We broke apart when the doors opened and headed down the hallway.
In front of my door stood Hurricane and Vortex, wearing pajamas and with disheveled hair.
It was super hot.
When they saw me, they rushed to me.
“How badly are you hurt?” Hurricane asked.
Neither touched me. Was that a sign?
“I’m just a little banged up from the explosion. Otherwise I’m fine. Nothing serious.”
Both exhaled their relief.
“Can I talk to you two?” I asked. “In private?”
Austin kissed my cheek. “I’ll get you for breakfast.”
“Thank you for coming.” I said.
He nodded once and walked into his room.
I opened my door and stepped back to let the duo inside.
This was either going to suck super dick, or end with at least a make out session.
I really hoped for the latter.
Chapter Seventeen
“Let’s be blunt so we can all go to bed,” I said. “My relationships just became public knowledge. And you both know I’m dating Transistor as well. So, I need to know
