Jackson. I want to start packing, now.”

Easton picked up Jackson a little while ago. They had to go meet with Rich for some reason. I’m kept in the dark when it comes to the business. Whatever, I’ve grown used to it.

“How much are you even bringing? It’s not like Rich is leaving, too.”

“No, I know. I talked with my mom and I can take some of her stuff, and we’ll take Easton’s bed. We might have to get a couch and stuff, but I think we’ll be good for now at least.”

“We’re going to be neighbors again.” I dance a little in place.

It’s been a month since me and Jackson moved in, and even though I still get to see Rose almost every day, it feels weird not having her next to me. We were essentially only feet away from each other for my entire pregnancy. I miss having her close. Now she’s moving in and I literally cannot wait.

“I know. I’m so fucking excited. Oh, wait… Hold on!” She yells to I’m assuming Easton. “Okay, Cara. I have to go. Easton’s here and I’m going to start packing.”

“Okay. I wish I could help!” I do. I love this place, but sometimes I feel stuck here. I need a car so I can leave if I need to go somewhere. This relying on everyone else shit is getting a little old.`

“I know. Hey, I’ll come pick you up tomorrow and you and Wesley can come over and help me pack, okay? My mom would like to see him.”

I nod into the phone. “Yeah, that sounds good. Okay, I’ll talk to you in the morning.” I hang up, and pocketing my phone, I glance down at Wesley. “Okay, buddy. It’s getting dark, let’s head inside.”

I decided to walk with him around the property, and I even found a small creek about a half mile into the woods. We had so much fun down by the water that I lost track of time. Now we’re almost back to the house, and it’s almost pitch-black outside. The outside lights are on, illuminating my beautiful home. I’ve made small touches over the last couple weeks. I got a welcome sign propped up near the front door. We bought a small table and chairs sets off the Facebook marketplace, and Rose brought over some hanging plants that she set up the other day which adds the perfect pop of color.

I’m in love with my new house.

I haven’t heard from my mom since I left. Rose said she’s seen her at the house a few times, so I’m assuming she’s back living there. She hasn’t called or tried reaching out, so I guess all she wanted was her house back. Doesn’t bother me any. I’m glad I’m out of that hell hole.

When I get close enough to the house, I see headlights start to glow behind me. Looking over my shoulder, I see a vehicle coming up our gravel driveway.

“What the fuck?” There’s no way it’s Jackson already. They couldn’t have made it here that fast.

I pause as I watch a large SUV with tinted windows roll towards me, and the sinking feeling in my gut tells me these people are bad fucking news.

This isn’t good.

I turn back around, pushing Wesley towards the house as quick as I can. Just as I’m about to make it to the ramp, I hear the door open.

Fuck.

With shaky fingers, I go to lift Wesley out of the stroller. Fucking straps. I can’t get a good grip, but finally, the clip gives away and I lift him out as quickly as I can. Just as I rush up the ramp, I hear feet rush towards me just moments before big, unfamiliar arms wrap around my waist.

“No!” I shriek.

Wesley lets out a little squeal in surprise and I hold him as tightly as I can against me as I’m manhandled. I’m walked backwards, presumably towards the car.

“No! Let me go!” I kick against him and his grip tightens painfully so. I can barely breathe as the hairy beast's arms tightens to a death grip around my stomach.

I hear the door open, and I let out a bellowing shout as I’m tossed into the car. I knock around, falling onto the seat before rolling onto the floor. Wesley’s been jostled around so much now that he’s full on crying now, his belly sobs making my heart crack open.

“Get rid of the baby. I can’t handle the crying.” Come’s an unfamiliar voice with
