looked up into his ice blue eyes
“Your control is astounding, Skye,” he praised in a soft whisper, his eyes shining proudly. “It is very rare for one as young as you to stop so readily. You are a remarkable woman… but I always knew that.”
“It is impressive,” Oleif conceded from his post by the doorway. “Ruarc will be happy to know she’s not a completely mindless monster after all.”
I glanced back at Oleif with wide eyes. Any kind of positive acknowledgement from him was shocking and completely unexpected, even if it was backhanded.
“Yes,” Archer said, gripping my hips tighter as he smiled down at me. “I think you should update him on her progress as soon as possible.”
Oleif grumbled his agreement and turned his attention to Bethany. “You’re done here,” he said, motioning with his thumb over his shoulder. “Join your other friends.” Bethany looked at Archer for permission to leave and he nodded his head as Oleif told her to hurry up.
I watched as Bethany swayed a bit upon standing and instantly worried that we may have taken too much blood from her.
“It’s not the blood,” Archer whispered in my ear, his cool breath tickling my skin, “it’s her nerves. She had one hell of an orgasm.”
I bit my lip and groaned as I looked back up at him. “So, do you think it’ll always be this way, me causing everyone I feed from to…” orgasm? I finished silently.
Archer shrugged his shoulders as he tried his hardest to suppress a laugh. “I have no idea.”
“This isn’t funny,” I hissed at Archer as I lightly swatted him on the arm. “This is a serious situation. I’ll be the talk of the town if word of this gets out. And Ruarc… don’t get me started on him.” A thought occurred to me and I buried my face in my hands. “Oh God, Archer! Everyone in the house is going to find out. I’ll be teased mercilessly!”
Archer got that faraway look in his eyes that he sometimes gets whenever he’s reading another person’s mind. He was quiet for a few seconds and, when he focused back on me, he tried not to laugh again. He failed miserably. “I think it’s safe to say the whole house already knows.”
I smacked my palm to my forehead and winced. I was mortified and knew I’d never be able to look them in the eye again. “Oh, that’s just great,” I groaned. “That’s just what I need to top off this whole vampire experience.”
“It’s not that bad,” Archer tsked reassuringly. “Jameson has the same issue sometimes when he heals, you know that. It’s not a big deal. The guys may josh you a bit, but the novelty will wear off soon enough.”
“Oh that’s right,” I suddenly remembered, “Jameson. He’ll know how to deal with this. Maybe I’ll call him later.”
“Um,” Archer sighed as he rubbed the back of his neck, “he can’t know you’re a vampire right now, remember? He’ll drop everything and catch the first flight home and we don’t want that. He’s been trying to get this record deal for over a year.”
“Shit,” I sighed. I had forgotten that he didn’t know I had been changed into one of them.
Jason cleared his throat behind us and we both turned around as he gave us a small wave. “Sorry to interrupt, but I’m still here. Do you still need me or would you like me to leave?”
I looked up at Archer and sucked on my bottom lip. “I’m still hungry,” I said with pleading eyes. “Can I have some more?”
Archer glanced back over at Jason with pursed lips before turning to me and jerkily nodding his head. “He’s all yours, just remember your control.”
My eyes were on Jason in an instant and I heard Archer sit on the couch as I flashed to the loveseat. I sat next to Jason and picked up his wrist.
“I hope you don’t mind, but I prefer the neck,” he smiled widely as he tilted his head, exposing the thick, pulsing vein running the length of it. My mouth watered heavily and it was all I could do to slowly lean into him and not pounce.
“The blood comes more readily from the neck,” Archer said gently. “You must swallow fast or your mouth will overflow and you’ll make a mess.”
I grunted my acknowledgement as I tried to find a comfortable position sitting next to him. Finally, I gave up with a frustrated huff and flashed to Jason’s lap, straddling him.
