His Runaway Mate (Unexpected Mates #4) - Brea Alepou Page 0,60

up coffee. He glared down at his stomach that hadn’t started showing yet. “All your fault.”

“What?” Morgan asked.

Logan didn’t answer him or let him know he was going slightly crazy without coffee. Logan would be sure to complain to his mate later on. Indigo was going to get an earful tonight.

“Papa?” Ava called.

“Ava, can you call Kenny down to the clinic? Looks like we’re about to have a baby,” Logan shouted out.

“Oh my gosh, really?” Ava exclaimed as she popped out of the living room and into the hallway. She had a huge smile on her face, and she started jumping up and down.

“Ava, honey, can you please go get—”

A contraction hit, and Morgan forced them to stop walking as he bent over a little, holding his stomach.

“Breathe through it,” Logan coached. He started counting in his head, trying to keep track of how long the contractions were.

“I’ll go get Dad right now,” Ava said and ran down the hall.

Morgan let out another breath. “Uh, I feel like they are getting worse.”

Logan rubbed his lower back. “That’s because they are. That one was about forty-two seconds long and about four minutes apart. Let’s get you inside the clinic,” Logan said.

He ushered Morgan the rest of the way and helped him strip out of his clothes. Just as Morgan was slipping on the hospital-like gown, Kenny came barging in. His grey eyes were wide and full of worry.

“Morgan,” Kenny called out, moving toward his mate in quick long strides.

Logan backed up, giving them a second, knowing with Morgan being pregnant Kenny’s snow leopard needed to be reassured their mate was not in any imminent danger.

Logan started getting ready, knowing time was of the essence. Morgan groaned, and Indigo started counting instantly. He glanced at the clock on the wall. The baby was coming, and he was coming fast.

“Kenny, I need you to get Morgan on the bed so I can see how far along he is. I got a feeling your little boy is impatient, and he wants out now,” Logan instructed.

Kenny lifted Morgan with the utmost care and sat him down on the bed. Logan helped Morgan prop his feet up and checked between his legs. Sure enough, he was ready to go.

Logan looked up at Morgan; he was sweating, his black hair clinging to his face. He clutched Kenny’s hand for dear life. The scent of fear rose in the room.

“Morgan, take a deep breath. It’s going to be okay,” Logan said as calmly as possible. He glanced at Kenny and subtly gestured to do his job as the mate. Kenny caught on and started talking soothingly to Morgan. The scent of fear died down, and Morgan’s legs stopped trembling.

“All right, Morgan, I need you to bear down and push on this next contraction. Don’t stop until I tell you, okay?” Logan asked.

Morgan nodded. He looked nervous as hell.

“Look to Kenny. He’s a strong man and your mate—you trust he wouldn’t let anything happen to you, right?” Logan asked.

Morgan nodded his head with no hesitation.

“Good. Then believe in him, and I need you to push, okay.”

Morgan nodded again. Logan wished he had time to hook up the monitors to watch Morgan’s heart rate and the baby, but they had no time. Morgan’s face pinched, and Logan knew the contraction was happening again.

“Start pushing,” Logan coached.

Morgan shouted, and the baby’s head appeared.

“Keep going, Morgan, he’s almost here,” Logan encouraged.

He was pretty sure Kenny was giving his own encouragement, but Logan stayed focused on his task. Once the head broke through, he held his hand out, and Morgan screamed as the shoulder popped through and the rest of the baby slid out. Logan was quick, using the suction on the baby’s nose, and grabbed the thin blanket next to him, rubbing the baby’s back until he let out a beautiful wail.

“Congratulations, you two, on your baby boy,” Logan said.

He laid the baby on Morgan as he got the umbilical cord ready for Kenny to cut. He did so proudly, and once done he was cooing at their new bundle of joy. Logan had never thought this was what he wanted to do with his life. Although, his grandmother had done it for their litter, and now he knew why. Helping his pride mates bring their children into the world was one of the most magical thing.

“Morgan, I need you to push again so the placenta comes out, and then I’ll let you two be with baby Asher,” Logan said.

Morgan nodded, and
