His Runaway Mate (Unexpected Mates #4) - Brea Alepou Page 0,2

he was with was a tight family shifter group. It didn’t matter that they were all different shifters either. He was still new, and yet they treated him and Gabriella as family.

“Have you tried a bouquet, but you know, instead of flowers a variety of coffee?” Cole asked.

Indigo hadn’t, but that wasn’t a bad idea at all.

“Nice. Look at you using your brain,” Clyde joked.

Cole rolled his eyes. “Yeah, whatever.” He hit Clyde in the back of the head, and Indigo took a step back to avoid their wrestling, making sure he wasn’t dragged into it.

“I’ve been wondering, and you don’t have to tell me, but are you two brothers?” Indigo asked.

Clyde and Cole both stopped moving to look at Indigo. He was about to retract the question when Clyde spoke.

“No, we aren’t, but might as well be, right?” He put Cole in a headlock that he fought to get out of. Indigo chuckled.

“We grew up together like brothers, and we see the similarities too, so don’t think we’re blind to it,” Clyde said.

Cole wiggled out of Clyde’s grasp, face red. “When we were kids, we looked more alike to the point we tricked our teachers at school.”

Clyde shook his head.

“Don’t give me that disapproving look,” Cole said. “You used to have me sit in your classes when you skipped school.”

He could picture that from Clyde—he had the reformed bad-boy look down pat, not that Indigo could really talk when he had the same thing going for him. Once Gabriella was born, he’d put away his bad-boy status and slipped on the full-time dad persona.

Clyde pushed Cole. “So, are you done moping yet?”

Before indigo could answer Clyde continue talking. “I can’t possibly say I understand what it’s like to have your true mate stand right there and not be able to do anything, but what I know is that Gabriella is picking up on your gloominess.”

Indigo glanced into the kitchen at his daughter still eating. She hadn’t touched her carrots yet, and he knew once he was done talking to the guys, he was going to have to sit there with her till she ate them. She had a smile on her adorable face as she ate the yogurt.

“I know,” Indigo said, knowing he had to do better.

“That means you need to work faster in convincing a certain someone,” Clyde said.

“We are talking about Logan, right?” Cole asked.

Clyde pushed him to the side. “Yes.”

“Oh good. Then my coffee idea will definitely win you some points,” Cole proudly exclaimed.

“Would you be quiet already,” Clyde said.

Cole stuck his tongue out at Clyde as if he were a teenager and not the grown man he was.

“Are you sure you want to be a part of this pride?” Clyde asked, shoving Cole to the side.

Indigo chuckled at their back and forth banter

“It’s a no-fucking-brainer. Logan is here,” Cole said.

“Yeah,” Indigo agreed. “And I like the way all of you are with each other. It’s like a family.”

“That’s because we are,” Dezi stated, coming up behind Indigo.

The alpha was shorter than him, but it never seemed to bother him. He smiled at Indigo, slapping his back with a heavy hand. He hoped they got to stay—Indigo wanted to not only be with his mate but raise his daughter in the Bliss Pride. It was the best place for them.

A couple of days after being caught like a bunch of horny teenagers in the clinic room, Logan was more irritable than ever. Indigo was like an itch that Logan had no plans to scratch. Even as he thought it, he couldn’t help but glance around every corner in search of Indigo. Logan had been doing pretty good avoiding the man; granted, he’d been staying at his apartment more and spending less time at the pride house.

“Boo,” Dillan said, making Logan jump, and his coffee sloshed in his mug.

Good thing there was only a little left or he’d be really pissed off at Dillan for making him spill the existing liquid. He turned on his heels and glared at Dillan, who was all smiles, his black cat ears twitching at the top of his head and his blue eyes full of mischief. He looked way too awake for someone who had an infant. It was hard to keep up his glare with such a bright smile beaming back at him. Logan sighed, caving and letting his grumpiness fade away.

“Hey, Dillan,” Logan said.

Dillan smiled brighter and looked around before moving closer to Logan. “Are you hiding from Indigo?”

You
