His Apprehensive Mate - Brea Alepou Page 0,80

had thought about it a few times, but he was in no rush.

“One day.”

Dezi clapped him on the back. “Come on before they think we got lost.”

Ava was done talking about her school adventure and had moved on to how she planned to decorate her locker. Morgan saw Kenny and instantly smiled. It made Kenny’s heart skip a beat. He was just too beautiful and all his. He went to join everyone at the table.

The buzzer for the pizzas went off, and Logan walked in just in time. Kenny gestured for him to have a seat. He looked worse than Kenny imagined. His dirty-blond hair looked as if it hadn’t been washed in a few days, and he had bags under his eyes. But the moment Gabriella saw Logan, a little bit of his color came back.

“Loggy,” Gabriella squealed as she jumped off Indigo’s lap and straight into Logan’s arms.

“Hey, princess.” He gave her plenty of kisses on her cheeks.

Indigo watched them, his hands balled into fists so tight his knuckles blanched. It looked as if he wanted to get up and join them and greet Logan all the same, but he stayed firmly in his seat. Logan sat on the other side of the table with a happy Gabriella on his lap.

Whatever happened between them, Kenny just hoped they worked it out soon. They both were in misery without each other but determined not to show it. Morgan kissed his cheek, pulling him from his lingering thoughts. Morgan held a piece of pizza up to his mouth, and Kenny let his mate feed him happily. It was loud around the kitchen table even with everyone eating, but Kenny preferred it. The noise of family.

“This is why I tell you all to not have sex on full moon nights or days. It’s just safer to wait forty-eight hours,” Logan said.

“What?”

Logan looked up from his clipboard and ran his fingers through his hair.

“You’re pregnant, Morgan.”

“Wh—what?” Morgan shouted.

Logan groaned. “You’re going to have a bundle of joy soon, or bundles. We won’t know until I do an ultrasound.”

He jotted some notes down, and Morgan was at a complete loss. He touched his stomach. Morgan was pregnant, and he was going to have a baby Kenny soon.

“Here are some pregnancy pamphlets. I can get you some more, but just read up on those for now. They’re mostly for female shifters, but until I find the time to make the male ones, we’re using the ones Kelsey lent us.”

Morgan looked at the pamphlet, still in a little shock. Sure, he knew they could get pregnant and had seen Dillan and Kash go through it, but it was a little different when it was him. This also explained why he’d been sick on and off for about a week or two. Morgan thought he was going to be sick now.

Logan was in front of him telling him to breathe, but how in the world was he supposed to breathe when he was pregnant?

“Come on, Morgan it’s fine. Just breathe.”

Morgan settled down before he really did end up puking. He followed Logan’s breathing instructions, and slowly his heart stopped beating so hard.

“There, that wasn’t so bad.”

“I have to tell Kenny.”

Logan nodded. “Yes, although I’m sure Kenny’s already picked up on it.”

“Really?”

Logan nodded, going back to his notes. Morgan sat there for another moment, collecting his thoughts. How was he going to tell Kenny—should he do some big gesture with balloons and confetti? No, that was out of the question; it would make too much of a mess. Maybe get a shirt made that said “Congratulations, dad of two,” but what if Morgan was having more than one? He looked up to ask Logan when he could get an ultrasound but never got the chance.

Indigo barged into the infirmary. It didn’t seem like he noticed Morgan at all, all his focus on Logan. “Are you going to give me a chance to talk to you, or are you going to continue to run?” Indigo asked.

Morgan glanced over at Logan, whose shoulders seemed permanently glued to his ears.

“You made yourself clear the first time we talked. As far as I’m concerned, there isn’t anything to talk about,” Logan said through clenched teeth. He started banging things around as he put stuff away.

Indigo looked at Morgan. “Sorry, I—”

Morgan waved it off. He understood the pull to be with a mate, and he also understood being afraid. He glanced at Logan and wondered why he was so afraid of being
