Her Unexpected Admirer Page 0,53
he encouraged, releasing her hands and stepping back.
She saw her reflection in the mirror and gasped. “Wow! These are gorgeous!” She took a step, surprised that they were more comfortable than she’d expected. She took a few more steps and realized that the height wasn’t as bad as she thought. They certainly weren’t as high as the salesperson’s shoes which were at least four inches high. These were barely three inches, but the change in her appearance was dramatic. “Oh my,” she whispered. “These are amazing.”
“I agree,” Davis said, his eyes heating up as he thought about his earlier promise. “Try on the red ones,” he told her.
Kate bit her lower lip, excitement making her a bit more clumsy than normal. But she walked back to the chair and let the salesperson slide on the red shoes. They were decadent and dangerous but she absolutely loved them! She’d never really gotten into fancy shoes, thinking they were just something to put on her feet to protect her from the ground. But now she understood that shoes were more than just protection. They were a statement!
She tried on six more pairs of shoes, walking around the store and showing off her legs to Davis. After about thirty minutes, he said, “We’ll take all of them.” He handed a credit card to the salesperson, who immediately walked over to the cash register, eager to ring up the large sale.
“Davis, you can’t! These are all too expensive!” She’d seen the price of these shoes. They cost more for one pair than she paid in rent each month!
“All of them,” he repeated, staring right back at her. “And she’ll wear these out,” he commanded, handing her the black shoes. “Throw these in the trash.” He told the salesperson, handing the one inch, frumpy shoes to the lady who gladly tossed her very serviceable, very practical shoes into the trash.
She stared at the garbage where her utilitarian shoes now lay and her heart started racing. What would her father think? Would he…she stopped that thought, furious with herself. Her father’s opinion was no longer valid. Her father had lied to her, humiliated her and betrayed her in a very fundamental way.
When she looked up at Davis, a slow smiled started forming on her face. She didn’t know it, but her eyes, normally bright and engaging, had a new sparkle to them that turned him on more than anything, including the sexy, new shoes.
He took her hand and led her out of the store after giving the clerk instructions on where to send all the other shoes. “We’re not finished,” he told her and pulled her into a lingerie shop.
“Davis, I can’t go in there!” she told him firmly, pulling back on the hand that was holding hers.
“Oh yes you can. And you will,” he said, just as firmly. He tugged her hand but when she dug in her sexy new heels, shaking her head, he moved closer. “Would you please do this for me?” he asked, bending lower and placing small, nibbling kisses along her mouth, neck and ears. “I would really love to see you in something very specific.”
She saw the heat and reacted to it. Her whole body tightened with anticipation. Turning her head slightly, she looked at the beautiful display. “What is it?” she asked, starting to relent but still not quite sure.
“You told me that you trusted me.”
She laughed. “I’m not sure I trust you this much.”
He pulled her closer. “Yes you do.” He kissed her so gently. “Come on.”
She finally allowed him to pull her inside the boutique but she was still nervous. She’d never seen such beautiful undergarments before. The barely-there lace and sheer fabrics made her blush just looking at them. It was worse when Davis looked up and down her figure, then selected several items. “Go try these on,” he told her and nudged her towards the dressing rooms.
She clasped the little pieces of nothing to her chest, not wanting even the salespeople to see what she was holding. “I can’t wear this stuff!” she gasped, horrified at the very idea.
He laughed, delighted with her blush. “Yes you can. You can do it for me.” And with another nudge, she stepped into the dressing room.
Kate looked carefully at the pieces and her excitement grew. She could do this, she told herself. With shaking fingers, she slipped the pieces on then turned to look at herself in the mirror. Whoa! It was like she was a different person!
