Hello My Angel - Sue Brown Page 0,58
for me?”
“Just for you, princess. Now you’re not trying to get into our—my—bed every five seconds, it doesn’t really matter.”
They both laughed, then Gil sobered. “I miss those days,” he said, a little sadly.
“Me too. I keep wondering what would have happened if we’d refused the assignment.”
“You would never have met Cal. And Landry was already in deep. Something would have happened to him and we might never have known why.”
“Sometimes I hate him for not talking to us,” Josh admitted.
“I feel the same way every day. He was my other half and now I feel I’m walking through the world without my soul.”
Josh saw the tears in Gil’s eyes and reached out to hug him. For the first time in a long time Gil didn’t pull away. They hugged for a couple of minutes before noise outside the door made them pull apart and grin at each other a little sheepishly.
“I still don’t want to fuck you,” Gil said.
“You don’t know what you’re missing.”
Would Josh have regrets that he’d never had a Gil and Landry sandwich? Of course, he would. He wasn’t blind. Gil was stunning. With Landry they had been a force of nature.
“Josh, where the hell are you? Oh, you’re there.” Dave came in looking harassed. “Why are you still drinking coffee? We’re ready to go.”
“I’m not about to go on the hunt for a raging psychopath without caffeine.” Josh spoke slowly as though Dave was an idiot to even consider the idea.
“Wanker,” Dave said affectionately and disappeared.
“I’m really not going to miss this when I go back to Iran,” Gil said.
“Like we’ll let you go. You’re stuck with us, baby.”
“You know I still work for CDR don’t you?”
“Actually, you work for SCDR now. Cal had you transferred over. You really are stuck with this.”
Josh smirked at Gil’s horrified look and disappeared out of the kitchen in search of Cal. He heard Gil’s curses and laughed out loud. As he said, like he was gonna let Gil out of his clutches.
They stopped for a council of war before they left for Richmond. Max looked sulky at being left out of the fieldwork, but his mood improved when Cal pointed out he had the most important job of all. Rick was obviously exhausted, but as Dave had said, he wasn’t going to miss out on capturing Chyna Moles.
“We have about an hour’s daylight by the time we get there,” Cal explained as he showed them the plans to the house. How Max had laid his hands on those Josh had no idea.
“These are the entrances and exits. We work together. Do not let her separate us. You saw what she did to Chopper. Dave, your first job is to disable the vehicles. If she’s in the house, we don’t want her to drive away with Weatherly.”
“Understood,” Dave said grimly.
“Max, if anything happens to us, contact Dominic,” Cal said.
“What the hell?” Josh said.
Cal looked at him. “Would you rather I contacted Herring?”
“Point made.”
They drove out in two vehicles, Dave driving Cal and Josh, and Rick and Gil together. As they drove, they refined the plan, Josh in contact with Gil. It was almost like old times as he and Gil bickered over details until Cal told them to shut the fuck up. Josh was nervous, now they were actually going to find Weatherly. They didn’t know if Weatherly would be there but this was the best chance they’d had so far. They drove through parts of London Josh hadn’t been to before. He felt like he’d been all over the city in a futile attempt to find one woman. Now he had a feeling this was the right place. They would find her this time.
Cal slipped his hand in Josh’s and squeezed it.
Josh looked over at him. “You okay, my Charlie?”
“No, but I will be when she’s behind bars.” A muscle ticked in Cal’s jaw.
“You think she’ll let us take her alive?”
“I don’t fucking care if she lives or goes out in a body bag.”
Josh nodded and leaned against Cal. “Nor me.”
Chapter 16
“There it is,” Cal murmured.
Josh looked at the house—a mansion really—as they drove past. He’d been so lost in thought he hadn’t realized they’d arrived at the address. “Sir Gideon wasn’t the only one who liked big houses.”
“I think this was her husband’s. His family had money,” Cal said. “Uncle Gee would have killed to have this place.”
“He should have gone to Texas. There are McMansions three times the size.”
The disgusted look Cal shot him made him
