felt his blush rise even higher. He hoped Jude didn’t get a complex because he was still thinking about the way the toy had brought him off. It had been electrifying. He’d never come so hard in his life. Not that he would ever tell Jude that little tidbit.
“Didn’t you ever use toys before?” Jude asked. “We’ve never used them together, but you must have done it BJ, right?”
“BJ?” Cope had a feeling the letters meant something other than blow job.
“Before Jude.” His husband started to laugh.
“Well, no.” Christ, with all the blushing Cope was doing, he felt feverish. “Not the kind that vibrate, anyway.”
Jude’s head pivoted toward him. He wore a shocked-beyond-speech look on his face.
“I told you that my father hated that I was gay. The last thing I was going to do was bring some kind of sex toy into his house. He would have absolutely lost his shit if he’d found a dildo.”
“Would he have known what it was?” Jude snickered.
Cope gagged. “I’m sure he would have figured it out.” The thought of either of his parents finding something like that in his room made him want to give up solid food for a week. “Anyway,” Cope gave his head a shake, wanting to distance himself from vibrating dildos as much as he possibly could. “Yes, Wolf saying our names was pretty spectacular. For some reason, I actually feel better about leaving him today after that.”
“What do you mean?” If Jude found the segue odd, he didn’t remark on it.
“I was afraid Wolf would forget me yesterday. It was the first time I’d ever been away from him for more than an hour or two at a time. I guess I just thought if I was out of sight, I would also be out of mind.”
Parking the car in front of the Magick shop, Jude turned to face Cope. “You know I don’t like to contradict you, but that’s ridiculous.”
Cope knew Jude had more to say on the matter. If he interrupted now, he’d get Jude off course.
“Our son has been sleeping through the night for the last few months now. We’re out of sight and mind for those ten hours while he’s out cold, dreaming his little dreams. Right?” Jude waggled his eyebrows.
“I’d never thought of it like that before.” Cope knew he was making the separation harder on himself than it had to be.
“That’s why you’ve got me, hot stuff.” Jude kissed him hard. “If you’re a good boy today, I’ll let you tie me up and have a go at me with that thing.” Jude made a buzzing sound against the side of Cope’s neck.
“No chance. Get your own!” Cope laughed and was out the door.
“Wait! That’s a little cruel, don’t you think?” Jude ran around the car after him.
“It’s my present. Why should I share? You don’t slurp out of my coffee cup or eat off my plate. Why should you share my ass bandit?” Cope bit his lip to keep from laughing out loud.
“Fine. Be that way. I’ll order one for myself and send it overnight shipping.” Jude had a really good pout going.
Cope laughed. “I guess that means I’ll need to find something else to keep you occupied until your toy arrives.” He brushed his semi-erection across Jude’s thigh and turned toward the door.
“That’s not fair, you know.”
It wasn’t fair. Cope would be the first to admit it, but they were at work and he couldn’t exactly walk into the shop with a full-on erection. “Come on, Dada! We’re gonna be late for work.”
“I’m coming,” Jude muttered under his breath.
“Not yet, but you will be.”

Jude
Jude and Cope got on the road to The Beecher House later than Jude wanted. Everyone in the shop wanted to see the video of Wolf talking. Carson and Ronan wanted to see it several times before they were satisfied. Cope promising he would send it to all of them was what finally got them out the door and on the road.
He remembered the way their friends had reacted when their kids said “Dada” for the first time, but Jude had no idea Wolf saying it would affect him the same way. Okay, maybe he’d shed a few tears the first time Everly called him Joo, but that was different. Everly was his goddaughter. She was his little princess. His Queen E. Wolf was his son. He should have known that word would hit him like a punch from Conor McGregor.
“You’re awfully quiet.” Cope looked up
