sound of your voice, Arturo. You do enough interviews that she's heard it."
"Bitch doesn't know what she's talking about," Arturo growled. "You should know that. Women lie. That's the one thing they're good at!"
"Who hurt you?" Bradley asked. "Who started all of this? Was it when Destiny Pierce made you look like a fool on Reddit, trolling you so hard that you couldn't help but walk into it?"
"What?" Arturo gasped.
"Or was it when Janna turned you down? No, it had to be long before that. Was she a gamer? Was that who convinced you that women are so evil? Give me something, or I'm walking out of here - and we've got enough that the only decision will be lethal injection or life in prison. And I'm sure you know that pedophiles don't live long in prison. Destiny was seventeen years old. A minor. That will be right at the top of your record."
"They recruited me after CareBear ruined my chances of going pro," Arturo said. "I'm not Soul Reaper. They recruited me!"
Jason jumped to his feet and pulled out his phone. First, he sent a text to Bradley, telling him to stall. Then he tapped a button and lifted it to his ear. Behind him, the Section Chief looked worried, but Jason didn't care about that. It took only seconds before Logan answered.
"Void?" he asked. "I need some info, and I need it yesterday. Match information for CareBear. That was Dallas - she made it to the finals. I need to compare that against another player, Arturo Ganza."
"Pulling it up," Logan assured him. "Yeah, Riley's stuff is going to take a bit, but while that's processing..." He paused. "Shit."
"What?" Jason demanded.
"Well, the first thing that comes up with Arturo's name is a complaint he filed that year. Dallas tournament. He claims that a player by the name of CareBear offered to trade him sex in return for throwing the match. Thing is, it looks like..." Logan paused for a moment. "Yep, he died in the second round, under the username Lucyfur." Then he spelled it out.
"Who killed him?" Jason asked. "Void, I think she did."
"Scanning her kill feed," Logan said. "And right now, I'm so glad they keep all of this in case of legal issues. Ok, and - shit," he breathed. "First kill on the map, second round, at 0:03 seconds. Riley tagged him as soon as they were released."
"That's all I needed," Jason said, ending the call so he could send Bradley another message.
Jason: Dallas tournament, username Lucyfur, first kill on the map, second round. Account registered to Arturo Ganza.
Jason: That's why Riley was blackballed as CareBear. He filed a complaint with the PLG saying she offered to sleep with him so he'd throw his match.
Jason: No idea if he knows CareBear is QQ.
Bradley looked at his phone and a smile slowly spread across his face. "So, Arturo, do you have a problem with Riley 'QQ' Andrews? Is that why you sent people to her home to assassinate her? We have a man saying he was told to do it."
"What?" Arturo asked. "No, QQ's a cunt, but she gives me good interviews."
"Thought you were recruited after CareBear?" Bradley asked. "If she was really that big of a threat to you - enough that it would make you join a terrorist group - I would think you'd still hate her after she started playing under another name. I mean, there was an article about it in ProGamer's Weekly not too long ago."
"What?" Arturo asked. "I don't... What the fuck are you saying, man?"
"Riley Andrews first made a run for the PLG in Dallas under the name CareBear. A few years later, she tried again as QQ and made it."
"It's not me," Arturo breathed. "I'm not Soul Reaper, but that fucker set me up. I never should've fucked with him."
"Uh huh," Bradley grunted, gathering his things up. "That's what all the guilty ones say. How about you think about that for a moment, hm? And thanks for the tip about CareBear. We actually hadn't put that one on you... yet."
The moment Bradley walked out of the room, Arturo slammed his hands down on the table. "Fuck!" he hissed. "Fuck, fuck, fuck!"
Agent Dalton just chuckled. "Yep, I think we got him. Good job, Agent Raige. Very good job. And now I see what you mean about the help."
"The internet is too big for one man to rule alone," Jason told him. "There's always someone out there saving everything we do.
