had security long ago and, not only was Mia a millionaire in her own right, but soon she’d be his wife.

‘You’ll be fine, sweetheart,’ Connor told her.

‘I’ll be better than fine because I’ll be with you,’ she said.

‘If you’ll excuse me, I’m going inside to visit the bathroom,’ the agent said. ‘It’s been a long trip.’

Mia looked up at Connor and he saw the wonder and sheer happiness in her expression. ‘Can you believe it?’

‘It’s incredible news.’

‘We can go home and plan our wedding!’

Mia drew his head down to hers and Connor was only barely aware of someone walking towards them, so consumed he was by his fiancée’s kisses.

‘Er…’ The clearing of a masculine throat broke them apart. ‘You folks got any coffee?’

‘Sure,’ Mia told the pilot. ‘Inside. Help yourself.’

‘I can’t wait to make you my wife,’ Connor murmured near her ear.

No sooner had the pilot left them than Carlisle came back outside. ‘How soon can you two be packed?’

‘It won’t take too long,’ Connor assured him.

‘Great. We thought we’d have a quick coffee break and something to eat, then head back to Vancouver. We’ve got you booked on a flight back to London later tonight.’

‘Okay.’

Mia sighed as the agent went back into the cabin. ‘Back to London.’

Back to the hustle and bustle.

Connor looked over at the wood pile, the log cabin and the beautiful woods around them. All these weeks they’d been surrounded by the picturesque, snow-peaked caps of the Rocky Mountains. At night, they’d been lulled to sleep by the sound of running water from the pristine glacial stream at the back of the cabin.

‘You don’t want to leave?’ Mia asked, sensing his mood.

‘Only to marry you. I’ve got to say I’m going to miss it here,’ he admitted. He wouldn’t mind staying here with Mia forever if it wasn’t for Gran.

She planted a kiss against his lips. ‘You’re too dynamic to be holed up in the Canadian wilderness forever, my darling. London calls and Stewart Corporation needs you at the helm. But,’ Mia pulled a sad face, ‘I’m going to miss having you all to myself.’

Connor shook off his reluctance to return to the pace of life in London. ‘It’s been great, but it’s time to return and I promise we’ll still make time for each other.’

‘Hm.’ Mia tilted her head at him and smiled. ‘I’ll go back to London, but only on one condition.’

He arched an eyebrow at her. ‘You have a condition? You’re starting to sound like Gran.’

‘Funny you should mention Violet. This all started with her insisting I have five dates with a certain gorgeous billionaire.’ She lifted her hands to his head, urging him closer so she could kiss him. When she drew back she said, ‘I want you to promise me that every year we’ll escape to the wilderness together and I can have five weeks alone with my hot lumberjack.’

Connor laughed. ‘Done!’ It was an easy decision and one he never regretted.
