Fire (Pirate Cove Academy #3) - Rae Foxx Page 0,19

winked, then nodded for me to continue.

The fucker wasn’t even going to help me? Maybe this was a conversation I needed to have. Something I needed to admit.

I turned back to Kai, “I want you both, and I hope you can be okay with that. I’m pretty sure Caspian is.” This time we both glanced at Caspian.

The Siren threw his hands up in the air before shouting across the short distance, “are you two done yet?” I shot a tiny fireball at him, just as a warning. He ducked under it before sending me a murderous glare. The fireball exploded in the sand behind him, like a tiny bomb.

“Fine, I’ll just be heading back to our room, then. You two let me know when you’re ready to join.” With that, Caspian stood up, dusted off the sand, and turned on his heel. Kai and I watched him walk until he was out of sight, then I turned back to him.

“So uh… yeah.” I had no idea what to say, so I settled for dumb as shit. Nice.

Kai seemed to be pondering something, so I let him. After a few heart-wracking minutes, he finally turned to look down at me.

“As your Bloodsworn, we would still have to be married. Eventually. Unless you have some grand plan to usurp our oldest traditions?”

“Uh, not yet. But, who’s to say we couldn’t? Everything has gone to hell in the Below right now, so there’s nothing saying that we couldn’t change some rules, right?” I eyed him for his reaction.

His face grew even more downturned. “So you don’t want to marry me?”

“What? Of course I do! I am just trying to figure out how you and I can still be married, and I can have Caspian at the same time. Like I said, I want you both, and the Mer traditions will probably not allow it.” I could just picture the look on my old Mer nanny’s face if I asked her to let me marry two men. I smiled to myself at the image. The old sea cow would probably have died on the spot from sheer embarrassment.

“Maybe we don’t have to figure all of that out now. I’m so happy to have you back, Zan. I can’t imagine I’d let a little… sharing get in the way of that. Even if the guy is a grade-A asshole.” Kai’s face had turned to lightheartedness, and my heart thumped once at his beauty.

How could I have hated this man for as long as I did?

“He is an asshole, you’ve got that right.” I nodded.

“I’ve never done anything like this, ever. You’ll have to show me. I’m still not even sure what he was talking about when he said ‘feeding’.” Kai seemed apprehensive and I had a strong urge to wipe that look off of his face. No one would ever make my Bloodsworn, my protector, ever feel less-than again.

I stood up abruptly, resolve washing through me. Time to bite the bullet and show my lifelong bodyguard that I could pull power from sex. No big deal. Everyday shit.

“Time for show and tell.” I held out my hand to help him to his feet. He took it, a light dancing behind his eyes. Maybe it was excitement, maybe it was fear, but I was just happy that he was willing.

I pulled him to his wobbly feet and helped him back up to the school. We were covered in sweat, sand, blood, and ocean water. We desperately needed a shower. With that thought, an idea occurred to me. I smirked to myself as we continued through the halls of Pirate Cove Academy.

Once we got to our room, Kai pulled gently on my hand. I turned to look back at him, hoping he wasn’t about to turn tail.

“I just want one to myself.” He pulled me into him roughly. My chest slammed into his at the same time that his mouth came crashing down onto mine. I sank into the kiss, loving the taste of his sweat, his tongue. I sighed against him as he trailed his hands down to squeeze my ass.

After a few heated moments, my thighs clenching together from the intensity, he pulled back to assess my face.

“You know, you can have me to yourself whenever you want. It doesn’t have to be,” I gulped, “together all the time.” Kai chuckled, then leaned into me.

“Is that a promise?”

“Fuck yeah.” I smiled at him, then pulled him inside the room.

Caspian was sprawled across the bed and
