me, and after a quick glance at the nearly recovered Mer, Kai was interested as well.
Fuck me.
Literally.
I thought for a moment, trying to decide what to do here. Kai had been in my life since we were children, it made sense that he and I were supposed to be together. Except… Caspian and I had something special as well. Something I never thought possible, but something I absolutely didn’t want to give up.
I know the Siren had been okay sharing me with Hywel, but that might have been only because Caspian didn’t consider the Pirate a threat. He’d laughed at Hywel’s weakness. Would he feel differently now that a powerful Mer was the one sharing the bed?
Fuck, this was all so stupid and childish! I was the fucking Mer princess, and I shouldn’t have to care about these things. I kicked the sand, both Kai and Caspian tilting their heads in response. The eerie twin-ness of it would have made me laugh if I wasn’t caught in a whirlpool of emotions.
I looked at them each, one by one. Neither of them had said anything since Caspian had stated we needed to feed. As far as I knew, Kai still didn’t even know that I could draw power from sex, and he just thought we were referring to sex as feeding. Maybe he thought that was code in the Above.
Unsure what to do, uncomfortable with all the staring, I finally shouted, “And how do you propose we do that?!” throwing my hands up in the air in exasperation.
Caspian immediately roared with laughter, even going so far as to bend over at the waist, gripping his stomach as he chortled. I glared at him, waiting for it to subside. Kai just gaped, completely lost. We’d gone from sultry stares to outright laughing in a moment, and the poor Mer couldn’t keep up.
Taking pity on him, I stalked past Caspian—making sure to shove the still-laughing Siren to the sand as I did—and kneeled before my Bloodsworn. I looked up at him, ready to spill it all. Just as I was about to begin explaining, he put a finger to my lips.
“It’s okay. I already know.” Huh?
“Know what?” I asked warily.
“I already know that you and,” he gestured vaguely to the still-laughing Caspian, “and he… have something. I’m not sure what, but I don’t want to get in the way of anything. Last night was incredible.” Kai’s eyes were soft, and my gut clenched at what I knew was about to be a ‘but’. “But I know you haven’t wanted me for a long time. I know you want him.” He again nodded to Caspian. The Siren now lay flat on the sand, recovering his breath. I wanted to punch him right in that big dick of his.
“Kai… no. That’s not what I was going to say at all.” I gazed up at him from where I kneeled in the sand. Sweat glistened on those incredible shoulders, his muscles so sculpted that I felt my pussy grow warm at the mere thought of touching them again.
“Kai. You’re right that for a while there, while I was being…young and stupid, I didn’t want you. In fact, I highly resented the fact that we were bound by Mer law to marry. I wanted,” I nearly choked on the name, but now wasn’t the time to back out. “I wanted Hywel, and I did what I could to be with him. Now, though… seeing you so hurt and damaged by Aliz,” I spat the name, “I realized that you’re more important to me than I thought. I was selfish before, but not now. I hope you can forgive me for the way I treated you.”
Kai smiled at me before reaching down to cup my face in his large, warm palm. “There’s nothing to forgive, Zan. I resented our bond as well for a time. I couldn’t believe that I’d be forced to marry such a… princess.” At that, I laughed out loud.
“Well now we can finally be together. I want you. That’s all there is to it.” I nodded, hoping my statement had been enough.
“What about the Siren?” Kai’s eyes had grown hard. I guess it was time for the hardest part.
I took a deep breath, then said, “I want him too. I want both of you. You’re right that Caspian and I have something… special.” I looked over to where Caspian was now watching us talk with a serious expression. When he noticed me looking he
