on either side of him, his legs dangling as he waited for Ryan to return with Ash.
There was this shadowy part in his head, a ledge, and Warren was close to stepping off it as he cracked from all of this. But he held himself back, trying to reason with himself to calm down and mull over everything that had happened so far.
Pregnant. Jeez, that was the last thing he was expecting from his sickness. Hell, it hadn’t even been on the potential-things-wrong-with-him list. They were all just quacks. All of them, from the doctor to his assistant to the two guys who said that Warren was fated to be with them forever.
A vampire and a wolf.
A bark of laughter had him throwing his head back. Now he was staring at the ceiling as he counted the small dots in the ceiling tile. He was trying to pick out patterns when the door opened.
It was Ryan. Alone. No Ash behind him.
Disappointment swelled inside of Warren. He didn’t even know Ash, not really, and he missed him like crazy. And Ryan? As badly as Warren wanted to ditch him, for Ryan to leave him alone, he couldn’t deny the relief he felt that Ryan was back.
“Hey, hey.” Ryan moved to stand in front of Warren and used the pads of his thumbs to wipe right under Warren’s eyes. Warren hadn’t realized tears had welled up and spilt over. “No sad faces, shrimp.”
Warren tried to crack a smile, but he couldn’t get his mouth to produce one. So he cleared his throat and forced himself to stop acting like a baby. “I was just expecting you to find Ash.”
Warren didn’t want to think about the fact that he was now with two guys. Uncle Morgan was going to flip his lid. He’d already had a hard enough time when Warren had told him he was gay. It had taken Morgan a while to come to terms with it, but he’d finally accepted it and they were in good standing with each other.
This might take him a decade to accept.
And a baby? That would be harder to explain. If Warren were truly pregnant, he’d just have to tell Morgan that they’d adopted.
“What’s going on inside your noggin?” Ryan asked. “Talk to me.”
Warren frowned. “Where’s my food? You weren’t supposed to come back without some food for me.”
“It’s three in the morning,” Ryan argued. “No place is open. If you wait about two hours, I can get you something from the diner.”
The door opened again. This time it was Ash. Warren’s jaw dropped as he looked him up and down. “Why the hell are you naked?”
Holy fuck! Warren just might pass out again from the sheer beauty of his body. Ash had swollen pecs and a six-pack Warren wanted to lick. He wanted to run his fingers through Ash’s beard, grab the silky strands of his hair while Ash kissed the air right out of Warren’s lungs.
“I think he’s glad to see you.” Ryan chuckled. “His eyes are bugging out of his head.”
Warren forced his mouth to close and ripped his gaze away from Ash’s stunning body. No, he hadn’t peeked at Ash’s cock. If he did, he just might spread himself on the bed and beg Ash to fuck him, but Warren had gotten himself into enough trouble doing that.
Enough trouble. Like getting pregnant. Jeez. Warren felt faint again. It was something he couldn’t even wrap his head around, so he shelved the thought for another time. Right now he just wanted to get home.
Ryan walked over to the counter and started looking through drawers. His brows were dipped and his mouth set in a grim line.
“What’re you doing?” Warren asked. “Are you trying to steal bandages or gloves?”
“I’m looking for a set of scrubs Ash can wear.” Ryan looked up, and Warren could tell there were plenty of dirty thoughts circling in his mind. “He can’t leave here like that.”
Warren slid from the bed and searched the cabinets on the other side of the room. The best he could find was a gown. He grabbed two of them. “Put one on backward so your butt is covered.”
Ash looked as though he was getting too much enjoyment out of this. His smile set Warren’s heart to racing. God, he was so freaking handsome.
“Afraid I might get too many propositions?” He took the gowns and put them on, covering his gorgeous body.
Ryan snarled, and Warren had no idea why he’d done that. He was
