to her, she kneed the guy in the balls and took off. I ran after the guy but only got the license plate.”
Hudson told Cy the make and model of the car and the license plate number. Over the phone, the sound of the keyboard echoed.
“The owner of the car reported it stolen earlier today.” Cy let out a sigh. “If you give me the teacher's name, I can do a little digging. But if this guy stole a car, that's enough information to suggest she's in trouble.”
The back door opened, and Sidney walked out with Hannah and their other dogs. Gumby pulled Sidney onto his lap.
Hudson trusted Sidney and had no reason to hide anything. He tapped his fingers on the table. “Her name is Siena Davenport. She's thirty-five, blond hair, around five-eight.”
“Wait…are you talking about the supermodel Siena Davenport?” Sidney took a sip of her drink.
Gumby let out a whistle. “Wait, you almost married a supermodel and then ghosted her?”
“I thought you said she was Kaiden's teacher,” Cy said through the phone.
Hudson let out a sigh. “Yes, when we dated, she worked as a supermodel. Now she’s Kaiden's teacher. I don't know the reason she quit modeling. After I moved to California, I tried following her career, but three months after I left, she disappeared from every magazine. I plan to ask her about it this weekend. My gut tells me something is really wrong. The way I left things was bad, and we haven't spoken in six years—not until tonight. And I need more evidence before showing up on her doorstep tonight.”
“Give me some time to do research. If I find anything, I'll let you know.”
“Thanks, Cy.”
The phone went silent, and Gumby put it back in his pocket. Hudson's nerves were on edge. Adrenaline coursed through his body. He'd go home and see what Kaiden had found on Siena while he waited for more information from Cy.
Gumby cleared his throat. “I'm here for you, and so is the team.” Gumby was part of another team stationed in Coronado.
“I know, but it's time I fill my own team in. There’s no way I expect Cy to keep this from the rest of the guys.”
Hudson talked to Sidney and Gumby for a few more minutes before saying goodbye. When he walked back into his house, Kaiden was sitting in the theater room with a laptop. A million tabs were open.
“Here. This will give you some info.” Kaiden got up and left the room.
After the first year away from Siena, Hudson had stopped spending hours looking for updates. He didn't want to see that she’d moved on and settled down with someone else. But every so often, he would do a search to see what came up.
Hudson had just finished reading the last article about Siena's ex when his phone buzzed next to him with a text from Cy.
Five-million-dollar bounty on her head, alive.
That meant they wanted something from her. Fuck.
His phone buzzed again. This time, it was his commanding officer.
Report immediately.
For the first time in his career, Hudson hated knowing that he had to go to the base.

Siena
Siena needed to hurry up and get home. She’d never expected to see her ex again when she watched the police cuff him and escort him out of the school. Clearly, he wasn’t in jail any longer. The news that he’d put drugs in her house, where her daughter lived, made her see red.
As she sped the side streets toward her home, she glanced in her rearview mirror to see if any cars had followed her from the school. After a couple of miles, she relaxed her grip on the steering wheel and slowed down. Siena needed to figure out where she would stay that night because her ex knew where she lived, and if she didn’t give him what he wanted, he could easily get into her house.
God, he even has a key. After the cops arrested him, she hadn’t thought about the key.
That must have been how he’d gotten into her house before without her knowledge. She’d taken all the items he left at her home and dropped them off on his dad’s doorstep. If she’d known there were drugs there, she would have turned them over to the police immediately. But when she’d cleaned out his things, she never saw a box of drugs.
Siena laughed to herself. There was no doubt in her mind she was in over her head and needed help. The first person she thought about
