Dangerous Rescue - Linzi Baxter Page 0,52
sat around the table as a family and laughed and talked. The food was amazing, and Siena knew whatever Kaiden wanted to do, he would be amazing at it.
“I want to watch a movie,” Mia declared after they finished putting the dishes away.
Kaiden left to go out with some of his friends, and Siena, Hudson, and Mia sat down on the couch as a family. Hudson pulled Siena in next to him, and Mia sat on his other side. As Siena rested her head against his shoulder, she could smell his woodsy scent.
She’d dreamed that one day they would be a family. What she didn’t know was when the mess of her life would be cleaned up and she and Hudson would figure out visitation rights and everything. Hudson’s job required him to leave at the drop of a hat. And she didn’t know how she would feel about him dating someone else.
Hudson looked at her with a raised brow. She wasn’t sure why she was making a whole new narrative up in her head. The problem was she wanted Hudson, but wasn’t sure how to completely forgive him.

It was amazing how fast time could go. Over the past month, they’d all found a routine that worked. Xavier had worked some magic to get the hit on Siena taken down. From his contacts, he’d verified that she was no longer a threat to the cartel. She had to laugh about that because she’d never been a threat to begin with. With the danger gone, Mia went back to her school but still spent tons of time at Gumby and Sidney’s house, playing with the lovable pit bull.
Every time Siena broached the subject of moving back to her place, Hudson came up with another excuse or changed the subject. She planned to sit him down on Sunday and discuss what they should do. Hudson left for PT every morning before her and Mia got out of bed, but he was home with them each night. Siena knew that wouldn’t last long. At any moment, he’d be called. At night, when she would hear his phone go off, she worried he’d been called in. But most of the time, it was one of his teammates sending a dumb joke or asking if they needed anything.
This weekend was all about family and spending time together. Kaiden had a football game, probably the last one he would ever play. There would be scouts from five schools in the crowd that night to watch him play. The phone was ringing off the hook with coaches wanting to talk to him. They all believed he would be a top-ten quarterback in the league one day, and they wanted him to play college football.
Over the last few weeks, Siena had sat down and helped him weed through the application process for the school in France. She was torn. She didn’t want him to play football because she hated how he was hit. Over the years, she knew what those types of injuries did to players. But if it was his dream, she would be by his side supporting him. On the other hand, the college in France was so far away. She’d grown to like Kaiden always being around and Mia having a cousin. If he left, they would only see him a few times a year.
Mia hadn’t only gotten a cousin with Kaiden—she’d gotten five uncles with Hudson’s team. The men would show up at the house on Saturdays, which took some getting used to. They brought grocery bags of food to grill, and they would sit around and tell stories about each other. Angel even came over a few times to hang out with the group. The three women were still living with her. Siena had asked a few times about them, but her friend sidestepped the question.
It was fun to see how the people paired up. Casanova still hit on Angel every second he got. At the moment, the whole gang was at Kaiden’s last game, taking up a large section of the stands. Even Gumby and Sidney were there. Everyone had come out to cheer Kaiden on. Casanova said something to Angel, and she rolled her eyes and shoved his arm.
Yara and Doc sat next to each other. Out of the three women, she was the one Siena had least expected to warm up to the guys. Angel told her that Doc came over to the house all the time to spend time
