Dangerous Rescue - Linzi Baxter Page 0,50
lookout? You know, late, when you get bored. I’m sure there are plenty of things we can do.” Casanova flexed his muscles.
Siena groaned at his horrible pickup line. Hudson chuckled under his breath, and Ginger shook his head.
“Casanova, I would rather be sexually frustrated for a year than let your disease infested dick anywhere near me.”
Laughter filled the room.
“She has a point, Casanova,” Cy sputtered. “You sleep with anything that has legs.”
The Chris Hemsworth lookalike leaned back in his chair and smiled.
Damn. Siena understood why women were attracted to him. He was extremely good-looking.
“A lot of things have legs,” Casanova said. “I want to go on record that I only sleep with people over the age of eighteen.”
“Really?” Angel cut in. “When you have to make that many clarifications about who you sleep with, it’s too many. Just because you might be the sexiest man in the world doesn’t mean women automatically drop at your feet.”
The large muscular man shrugged. “People like to know they are cared for.” He leaned in closer to Angel. “And I make sure everyone is satisfied.”
“Enough about your sex life,” Cy said. “As for who is going to tail Guzman, that’s up to Xavier. All I know is the head of the Oaxaca Cartel is heading into town.”
“Are we sure we can trust the police?” Siena asked. “Or do I need to keep looking over my shoulder?”
Hudson reached out and grabbed her hand. The gesture helped ground her and make a little of her worry disappear.
“Hudson’s house is the safest for you. I talked with Commander North, and Casper’s off until Monday,” Cy said.
They talked for a few more minutes, and Cy ended the call.
“Casanova, when did you get back in town? I thought you were…” Hudson glanced at the living room before continuing. “I thought you were going to hunt down Rock and Buddy.”
For the first time all night, Siena witnessed the deadly side of Casanova. His carefree smile disappeared, and his eyes turned dark. “The commander was ordered to bring us home, and someone else would look for them.”
“The same person who made the decision to put you on that mission,” Ginger said. “The commander’s hands are tied even if he doesn’t agree.”
“Can someone please explain?” Sienna asked.
“My orders came from someone at the White House, and I assume this order came from the same. Commander North can’t call the president and say he has an issue without any evidence.”
Siena felt terrible. She wished she could go back to the time before she knew about the bad shit in the world. She hated the news. Politics were never something she cared about or followed. The previous president, Zack Tucker, was sexy as hell. She’d watched a few of his press conferences. The current president, Miles Write, wasn’t bad looking either. He’d been in office for more than a year.
“Miles isn’t pulling strings on this. If I had to guess, someone’s using their position at the White House to make these calls,” Angel said.
Casanova narrowed his eyes. “How are you so sure President Write isn’t making these calls?”
The room turned deadly silent. The only noise was Angel’s fingers tapping on the table. Finally, she said, “Because he and Xavier are really close. So, if you want more answers, you’re going to have to talk to my boss.”
All the men around the table nodded like that was enough information. It wasn’t. Siena wanted to know how close Xavier was to the president. She didn’t understand why nobody else was as curious as she was.
Instead of asking questions, she leaned into Hudson, and he wrapped his arm around her. She listened to them talk. Her friend got in a few jabs at the men. By the time the sun was going down, they weren’t any closer to a decision, but all agreed to meet up again and discuss the tactical plan once they had more information from Cy.
“Hi, Daddy, look what I made today.”
They were walking through the door of Hudson’s house. Sidney had met them outside when they drove up. Mia held up a drawing of the four of them. She included Kaiden, which warmed Siena’s heart.
“This is really good, baby girl.” Hudson scooped her up into his arms and spun her around.
Wanting to give them a couple of minutes together. Siena leaned over, placed a kiss on her daughter's forehead, and stepped back. “I’m going to go make dinner. Why don’t you go play for a while?”
Siena also needed a few minutes alone. She
