Dangerous Rescue - Linzi Baxter Page 0,38
out blood-curdling screams. Scar cursed next to him. Hudson knew the situation would get worse. In a matter of seconds, the Houthi would outnumber them.
The two Houthi standing at the doorway weren’t older than fifteen. “Women!” they shouted and pointed their guns at the three ladies cuddled together sobbing.
“I’m not handing the women over,” Hudson said coldly. “I’ll give you one chance to leave before I put a bullet between your eyes.”
Scar grunted and kicked forward, knocking the gun in one of the Houthi’s hands into the air. The second asshole grunted and moved to the side, and Hudson struck him in the jaw. As the man stumbled backward, Hudson pulled the gun from his hands. He heard the crunching of bones as the man next to him fell. Hudson had the slightest sympathy for kids forced to join the insurgents. They didn’t know any better. But he had a mission to keep the women alive.
Scar drew back and hit the second kid. Both insurgents were knocked out on the floor. Hudson stopped and listened for more. They needed to leave at nightfall.
Rock and Buddy walked back into the room and over to the women. “You just couldn’t leave well enough alone,” Rock shouted. He gripped the younger American woman around the throat, his fingers cutting off her air supply like a python.
Buddy stood next to him with a gun pointed at the other American woman and a hand wrapped around the Yemen woman. The real plan was about to come out. Next to Hudson, Scar grunted in annoyance.
“You planned to turn the women over to Houthi?” Hudson ground out. “Why the fuck did we ever go through with the mission?” He could have been home, protecting Siena, instead of stuck in a sandbox for a week.
Hudson swore under his breath as something hard hit him from behind, and he fell to the floor with Scar next to him. Hudson rolled to the side, throwing off his attacker. He managed to grab his gun and pointed it at the rebel who took him down, and Scar did the same. Hudson’s fingers were on the trigger when five more men in full black tactical gear burst through the doors and windows.
Fuck, I’m screwed.
Then he looked around. Xavier's team had arrived. He didn’t know how they’d found him with all coms blown out and the team taking a different location than anyone had ever talked about. Angel and Deacon strode in, guns pointed at the man holding Hudson down. They were followed by Garison and Logan. And Xavier walked in last. His blue eyes surveyed the room before turning to Hudson’s attacker, pointing a gun, and taking the shot. The man crashed down on him as blood covered his face and clothes.
Jesus, it even got in my mouth.
“What the fuck, Xavier?” Hudson rolled the man off him.
Complete chaos broke out as more insurgents burst through the door, bullets flying. Hudson kept Rock and Buddy in his sight at all times. They didn’t let the women go, only used them as shields, and none of the Houthi’s guys took a shot in their direction. Hudson worried about what would happen when Slug showed up, because Hudson knew the guy would be on Rock’s side.
Xavier stood next to him. “Are you all right?”
“I’m fine.” He tipped his head toward Rock and Buddy. “We need to get those women out of here.”
Xavier grunted and took two quick shots, taking down the next wave of men. The gunfire was enough to alert every rebel in the area that hostiles were nearby. They were outnumbered.
“How the fuck are we going to get out of here?” Hudson was thinking alive but didn’t say the part.
Grim grunted from across the room as she took down a man three times her size. “Hudson, aren’t you having fun?”
He couldn’t help but smile. She was a force to be reckoned with. The man cried out as she wrapped her legs around his neck until he passed out. Then she jumped back up and helped her partner with his man.
“Watch my six.” Xavier nodded his way. “We need to take care of these fuckers and get the women out of here. Our extraction team is five minutes out.”
“They still have one more man,” Hudson mumbled as he shot the next rebel running into the room. “And I don’t know their plan.”
The fighting in the room died down. No more rebels ran in, but it wouldn’t be long.
“How did you find us?” Rock’s voice
