A Crown Of Smoke And Ash - Sloane Murphy Page 0,25

the intensity of his pistoning cock.

Wrapping my legs around his waist, I first feel his lips rip away, then I hear his cry, like life and death were battling for control, and finally I see the most beautiful sight in the world. And I lose all control.

We come together. We are voices and sweat and lust all mixed together when his wings spread wide behind his shoulders. Black wings framing this beautiful man at his most vulnerable.

I come again. The sight ripping a new orgasm from me and leaving me boneless and voiceless.

As we come down from the intensity of it all, he pulls me up and cradles me in his arms, his wings wrapping around like a protective shield around my naked body.

I feel sated and loved and protected.

Chapter Six

It’s been three days since I saw my brothers. Four since I saw Kain, Creek, or Roman, and I’m getting antsy. Phone calls have been scarce, and while I know two of them are literally ruling a people, and Creek is trying to smooth over the Hunters after Bauer told them that I’m not cast out because Levi declared it so, I know they’re insanely busy.

But I hate sitting on the side lines.

Which is why I’m sitting on the side of the pool, watching Levi do laps, building the courage to ask him the question Fallon asked me two days ago. Her, I’ve heard from almost non-stop since I text her after seeing my brothers.

Levi decided it would be safe enough to use a phone after informing the Hunters that I wasn’t cast out, and after he about scared the shit out of my brothers, I’m pretty sure no-one is going to be stupid enough to try and come here.

To say Fallon freaked out, well, that would be an understatement of epic proportions. I thought she was going to have a stroke when I told her about the Angel I currently can’t take my eyes off. Watching his muscles ripple as he tears through the water, makes me think of everything he did to me a few days ago, and in the days since. I curl my toes at the thought, my fingers clutching at the side of the pool to stop me diving in and distracting him all over again.

He disappears under the water, and I lose him until I feel the tug on my ankle and I’m pulled under the water. I squeal, but manage to close my mouth as I break the surface. I let myself sink then push off the bottom to the surface, pushing back my hair. I’m glad I decided to put on this swimsuit before I came in here.

“You’re a menace,” I tell him, laughing when I catch my breath.

“Yeah, but you love that I’m a menace,” he teases, circling me in his arms as he pushes me back up against the side of the pool.

“I kind of do,” I say and bite my lip. He watches it, almost enraptured, and I try not to sigh at how easy it is to get lost in him. “But, I erm. I wanted to ask you…”

I stop, and he pulls back a little, as if knowing he’s not going to like whatever comes out of my mouth.

“Just ask, Angel,” he says, his stormy eyes brighter than usual.

“I feel so stupid asking like this,” I huff. “But would it be okay, safe even, for Fallon to come over? I need some girl time, and I’ve not seen her since the night I was arrested.”

“Of course. You don’t need to ask. This place is as much your home as it mine. I told you already, you helped me build it. Literally.”

“Oh, well, okay then. I just I know you were kinda crazy about it being secure before,” I say, and he kisses my forehead.

“I was, but then I met your brothers, and they damn near pissed themselves. I’m not worried about them. Plus, she’s your friend. If you trust her, I trust her.” He smiles and kisses me gently.

“Thank you,” I breathe when he pulls back.

“I told you, Angel. You don’t have to say thank you. So, is she already on her way?”

“I mean, no, but I’ll go text her now, I just need the actual address, because beyond being in Eppingworth, I literally have no idea where I am.” He laughs at my awkwardness, but I can’t help it.

“I’ll text it to you, so you can just send it on. Come on, you seem like you’re
