folding his arms. “We’ll follow any leads we’ve already gathered, and hope we can find something out to help us before time runs out.”
“Thank you. I guess I better go and get dressed properly if we’re going to see my father.” I sigh. “He’ll be able to call the Elders together.”
“I could always just ask my dad,” Creek offers but I shake my head.
“No, it’s about time I saw him, after everything. I can’t avoid him forever. Especially if we’re going to be asking for his help. With more than just gathering the Elders.”
“Well, the advantage you have is that they’re all still here. With the revolt going on, they’ve called a gathering, so no need to disperse.”
“If they’ve already called a gathering, we could just crash that,” Levi suggests, and I nod.
“That definitely makes things easier on us.”
“I’ll get the details I can from Dad and let you guys know.”
“This means we could help search for the Hunters,” I say, looking around the table.
“Or, it could mean you take a few days to rest.” Roman looks at me pointedly. “You’ve been running around like a crazy person, let us all take some stuff on.”
“You’ve all got stuff, I can’t just sit around while everyone else is out, being useful.”
“You being rested, would be useful,” Kain adds.
“I am plenty rested.” I roll my eyes. “Even if Levi and I approach the Hunters we’ve already tracked down, he’ll be the one doing the heavy lifting since we need him to restore their memories anyway.” I look to Levi who nods in agreement.
“Sounds good to me. I can fly us wherever we need to go, so we can get about much quicker, and I’ve already got the details of who we’ve already found.”
“Well, that’s settled then.” Everyone murmurs their agreement, and a knot forms in my stomach. Fallon doesn’t give anything away, so all I can do is hope that this will be enough.
Chapter Twenty-Seven
Today we head out to find the Hunters. I suck in a lung full of air as I finish the last stretch of my run. The aim was to clear my head, but all I’ve done is worry and fret. I just wish I had more information. Working off of half a comment from Marie is all good and well, but I can’t prepare myself if I don’t know what’s coming. The anxiety is making me restless, and so I’ve ran twice the distance I usually do, but I don’t feel any better than I did when I started.
Roman and Kain disappeared last night, a lead Roman got about where the hybrids are being kept since the Hunters raided that warehouse what feels like a lifetime ago. Apparently, they have a lead on who is behind everything too, but apparently telling the rest of us isn’t a thing until they know for sure.
Another frustration to add to the pile, but I need to focus on today, and the rest of this week, because we’ve got nearly fifty Hunters to chase down, to try and explain everything to them, hoping they believe us, and then have Levi restore their memories.
I finish my run and bend in half sucking in more air, which is where Levi finds me, looking smug as fuck. “Enjoying yourself, Angel?”
I give him the bird as I continue to try and steady my breathing. I run as much as I can, to keep myself in shape since I don’t dance anymore, but fuck me, I pushed myself today and it’s showing.
“Well, if you want to get showered and change, I have the locations of our first Hunter family. There’s seven of them. All who had lived a good few lives before they were cast out. They’ll be good fighters if we can get them on our side.”
“Give me twenty minutes, and I’ll be good to go,” I pant.
“Or we could take an hour and I’ll come get wet with you.” He winks at me, and I can’t help the cackle that comes out.
“If you come get wet with me, we’ll never leave. Especially since I’ve been away.” I stick my tongue out at him, and retreat into the house, walking backwards.
“Later, Remy. Later, you’re mine,” he laughs, shaking his head and heading towards his wing in the house. I know Fallon said something about me moving up there, and I guess that will make sense eventually, but I haven’t really thought about what happens after all of this. I don’t want to move to Levi’s room
