hand. I give her a small smile as Levi heads over, juggling the three plates, placing them down in front of Everly and I before sitting down himself.

He lifts his glass in toast and waits for us to join. “To good food and better company.”

We drink and then I take a bite of the mac in front of me, and oh my fates. “Everly, tell me you cooked this? I cannot compliment him any more today, I don’t think his ego can take it.”

She smiles at me while he looks at me, his eyes practically flashing, and that static electricity he gives off, sparks against my skin, despite the devious smile on his face. I guess I’m going to pay for that comment. “I’m afraid I can’t take the credit. I did the garlic sticks from scratch though. I put cheese on a few for you.”

“I don’t know how you knew that was my favorite, but you are a goddess.” I sigh as I pluck one from the basket and take a bite, purposefully ignoring that it was in fact Leviathan that made this deliciousness. “Heaven.”

Levi says nothing, just shakes his head with a smile on his face and starts to eat. We talk about nothing of importance while we eat, but it’s nice. Just enjoying a meal, keeping everything lighthearted. The last few months have been a constant whirlwind of drama and chaos. I hadn’t realized how much I needed some downtime, and I have no idea how Levi knew it either, but he kept the guys away until Monday for me so I could have some time away. I know it in my gut.

I smile at him softly, he catches my eye and silently asks me what with a glance, shifting his head to the side, but I shake mine as if to say never mind, and go back to eating while they talk about the work happening in the back of the yard. How they can call the land here their yard is beyond me, it’s massive and sprawling.

“Did you enjoy the library?” I look up and realize Levi is talking to me. I rush down the bite I just jammed in my mouth without choking.

“I did, thank you. I don’t think I’ll ever have enough time to make my way through it though, you have so many books.”

“Well, you can come and go from there whenever you like. You built most of it.” He shrugs like what he said didn’t just drop a bomb on me with his so very casual words.

“I’m sorry, say what?”

“Oh my,” Everly says and takes a mouthful of her wine. “Oh look, I’m done. I’ll see you both later.” She hurries from the room and leaves us sitting here. Me staring at him while he eats like he didn’t just drop a bombshell.

“You built it,” he explains. “I’m sure you know this isn’t the first time we’ve met, Remy.”

“I mean, I thought I had a memory, but I mean… you need to explain.”

“I can’t fully, you know the rules. But I’ve known you a long time. In every single life you’ve had. But you rarely remember me until we meet again. Something to do with me being an Angel I guess.”

I put down my fork and take in what he said. How is that even possible? I mean, I guess it makes sense as to how the other guys got in touch with him, I hadn’t even considered it. Holy fates.

“You can stop having a brain melt, Remy. It’s no big deal. You’d have remembered eventually. You’ve only got just under two months until the end of the awakening, but if you like, I can unlock all of your memories.”

“You can do that?” I ask, rocked again.

“I can. You’ve yet to ever take me up on it. I think you like having some holes in your memory. You’re afraid of knowing everything. But I swore I’d always offer it to you, and so, I offered. You don’t have to accept.” He smiles thinly and finishes his glass of wine.

“Can I think about it?” I ask and he laughs.

“Yes, Remy. You can think about it.” He shakes his head and stands, clearing his and Everly’s plates. I sit and move the mac and cheese around on my plate, thinking about the possibilities of knowing everything. Are there things I’d rather not remember? Is that why I never took him up on it before? My instincts tell me yes, but what if unlocking
