A Crown Of Fire And Wrath (The Shadow Walkers Saga #5) - Sloane Murphy Page 0,99
Lycan in the basement, and me trying to get them all to realize I’m not broken… well, it’s just been a week.
Serafina disappeared before I got chance to thank her again, though, after the visit from my so-called parents, I really wish I had her disappearing skills.
That’s on top of Nirvana’s little bomb about her boyfriend causing all sorts of fucking issues. It’s not like I can tell her anything yet, she’s too far from being awoken. But that, that is a problem for future Remy.
I pace in the sitting room, trying to make a decision about if my plan is really a good idea or not. I mean, I know it is, but still. It could blow up in my face. It’s time to end this.
Taking a deep breath, I steady my nerves and open the door to the basement. The copper smell hits me first, and I realize why Kain has stayed away from this. It’s a lot.
I make my way down the stairs to the basement, where I find Roman, chest heaving as he swings another metal spike covered fist at the Lycan chained to the wall. The sweat and blood mixes together with dirt on his bare chest. His hair is wild and free, almost matted from all of the spatter caught up in it.
“Roman.” My voice comes out as barely more than breath. His fist stops moments before he hits the Lycan, who is already barely standing, being held up by the chains holding his wrists.
“You don’t need to be down here, Princess,” Roman growls, his voice low, as he keeps his eyes on the Lycan.
“Then neither do you,” I say softly taking a step towards him. His eyes flash silver, his wolf is so close to the surface, I swear if I touched him, I’d almost feel fur. He scoffs at my words, glancing at me over his shoulder.
“I’m going to get every last morsel from this traitorous asshole,” he growls, and I can’t help but smile.
“Roman, I don’t think he’s got any more to give.”
The Lycan starts to laugh, and I raise an eyebrow. Maybe I was wrong. Roman grabs the guy’s jaw, and the Lycan whimpers again.
“You got something to share with the class?” Roman demands.
“You’ll never win. She’s too weak. And she makes you weak, all of you. They’ll win. They always win. Chaos will reign.”
Roman roars and his clawed hand rips through the Lycan’s throat, almost decapitating him. His chest heaves with each ragged breath. I move towards him, reaching out a hand to him when he spins and faces me, looking more lethal than I’ve ever seen him. Even covered in blood the way he is, there is something brutal and animalistic about him that calls to me.
His hand darts forward and clasps my throat. Not so firm that I can’t breathe, but definitely enough that I’m not going anywhere. He closes the gap between us and bruises my lips with his kiss.
His tongue takes a tour of my mouth, searching out every corner and making sure he owns every inch. It's so feral, the hand to throat and the possessive kiss, that I feel it straight to my pussy.
Roman stops, releases my lips and closes his eyes as he takes in a deep breath, scenting like the wolf he is.
When he opens them again, the silver in his eyes is like a beacon, bright and inviting, but it's the ruthless grin adorning his mouth that has me biting my bottom lip.
"I can smell your arousal, Princess. Fuck." He takes a step forward, closer to me, his blood-covered clothes pressing against my chest and stomach as he walks me backward and pushes me against the stone wall. "Your pussy is calling for me. Your scent is my siren, an irresistible calling."
When his hands slide up my face, I'm mesmerized by his stare, his eyes hypnotizing me. He's just gazing at me as though calculating his next move. As if he's visualizing me in his mind's eye.
Then he slams his mouth on mine once again and I find myself hauled in the air by my hips. Instinctively, I wrap my legs around his waist and let him take completely and utter control of this entire situation.
I know he needs it. The context of our lives is getting to him and since my safety is his number one priority any threat to that stability makes him unsteady, ungrounded. That's where I come in. I'm his reality check although, when I think
