I take a deep breath and sit back up, closing the journals as I do.
This isn’t getting me anywhere. I have too much nervous energy to keep focusing like I am right now. I need to burn some of it off. I put the journals away and head to the pool. Fuck knows where the others are, but swimming off this restlessness sounds like a good fucking idea.
I duck into my room and change into a slightly revealing bandage one piece, that I’m almost positive someone other than Everly picked out, but it covers me enough, and I can’t be fucked to keep searching for another suit. I have no fucking clue where the others are, but after checking the hall and seeing no one I strut to the pool in nothing but my one piece and close the door to the fitness suite behind me.
Pulling my hair up and into a braid using the hairbands around my wrist, I stretch out and then dive into the pool. The icy water washes over me, stealing my breath momentarily, but it doesn’t take long for me to adjust as I slice through the water.
I have no idea how much time passes when a pair of hands grasp my waist and pull me from the water.
“So, this is where you’ve been hiding,” Levi says, his voice so low it makes me shiver.
“I wasn’t hiding, just burning off some energy. I got restless,” I say as I wrap my arms around his neck. He lifts me up slightly, and my legs automatically close around his waist as his mouth comes down to mine and he bruises me with his kiss.
“I can think of better ways to deal with that.” I feel the rumble of his words on every inch of my body. He nips my chin, and I give him access to my neck, which he kisses, licks, and bites down to my collarbone, my core tightening with each touch.
"Hmm, I have no idea what you mean." I give him the sass he loves to hate all the while offering my exposed flesh to his undivided attention.
"You're lucky I tolerate you, Angel, or else you'd be flying back into that pool."
As he speaks, his arms tighten around my waist and his mouth devours me a little more as though his body instinctively rejected his words.
“So back to burning off energy the old-fashioned way?" I squeeze my legs tighter around his waist, my feet crossing at the top of his ass, searching out more of his hardness against my needy core.
"The old-fashioned way, huh?"
He plunges us beneath the surface, and I squeal a little as we go under, the surprise of it all catches me completely off guard.
As soon as I can breathe again once we resurface, I'm sputtering and coughing through my nervous laughter, my eyes catching on a rare moment of Levi's lightheartedness. He's smiling, I love his smile, rare as it is, especially this smile. This smile is just for me. He's unbelievably handsome. All hard lines and soft words, when they are addressed to me at least. Levi is the responsible one. The planner, the thinker, the strategist. But when he smiles at me like this, it takes ten years off his tired eyes making him even sexier than ever.
Wrapping my arms as tight as possible around his neck, I brush my lips to his and whisper, "Are we going to keep talking semantics or are you going to fuck this restlessness from me?"
I see his eyes dart to the right then the left, as though trying to figure out which side of the pool is the closest for him to push me against.
"Your wish, Angel, is about to become real and in high definition."
With my back against the tiled wall of the pool, I close my eyes as his mouth slams onto mine, his tongue possessing every inch of space beyond my lips, his grunts echoing off the walls. I'm about to wrap my legs around his waist again when I feel myself flying out of the water and set down on the cold concrete.
