A Crown Of Fire And Wrath (The Shadow Walkers Saga #5) - Sloane Murphy Page 0,79

We were not sure whether or not the curse would be broken, because I was essentially still alive. We have looked into it extensively, with Michael, and confirmed that the curse is broken. So, the Hunter cycles will no longer continue. We do believe however, that as children have been born with the gifted angelic powers, that the Hunter lines will continue in this manner.”

It’s as if the whole room has held its breath, and then, in the blink of an eye, chaos erupts. There are questions being shouted, some people are up and moving towards me. Others are still seated, dazed by the information I have given them.

I get it. All of it. The anger, the confusion, the sadness.

Their lives have just been irrevocably changed, and its completely my fault.

“Everyone shut the fuck up!” Colt yells across the room, and it’s like a switch is flipped. Suddenly there’s silence. “I get that this is a lot to process, but if you have questions, you’re not going to get answers by shouting over each other, so sit the fuck down, and let’s talk this out like civilized fucking people.”

I sit down once everyone else has pulled themselves back together. I knew this would cause pandemonium, but I completely understand. This doesn’t just affect them. They still need to pass this on to the people that they represent. That isn’t something I’d wish on anyone. Just telling the elders is enough to make me want to vomit.

I sit and wait while they talk amongst themselves, but it’s Nasari who turns to me first. “Is there any way to reverse it? Can the curse be reinstated?”

“Honestly, I have no idea, but it is definitely something we can find out before you tell anyone outside of the council. I understand that sitting on information like this is awful, but I think it would be better for me to get answers to any and all questions from you guys before we tell anyone else.”

There is a murmuring of agreement around the table and I feel a little calmer. At least panic isn’t going to spread across the entire faction just yet, but I make a note to ask Michael just as soon as I get a chance.

“Who else has questions?” I ask and a dozen hands rise into the air. I run my hand through my hair and let out a deep breath.

This is going to be a long meeting.

Chapter Nineteen

It’s been a week since that awful day facing the elders. I still have no extra information for them, we’re waiting on Michael finding out the information from the people he has looking into all of this. Meanwhile, he’s still hanging around the manor, which has made the last few days both tense as fuck, as well as slightly comforting.

There’s a big part of me, now that I have my memories from my life as Amantara, that is very much used to having him around all the time. I mean, except for the war, I saw him almost daily from the time I came into my powers and my parents essentially abandoned me. In fact, if it wasn’t for him, I probably never would have met Levi, and my life wouldn’t be what it is.

There’s just a very strange feeling around the whole house.

However, Roman and Creek have been preparing the basement, because Tobias is due to arrive today with Theron and the traitor, Laurent. Aryna’s second. I have very little idea how they discovered it was him, or how they confirmed it, but the information I got was that he was sedated and being brought here.

After that, the house was a flurry of activity. Roman’s Lycans have been here with him, helping him reinforce whatever it is that Levi already had set up downstairs. No one is taking any chances it would seem.

I’m happy to have absolutely no part in it, so I’ve been hiding away in the library for the most part, still poring over my journals trying to find something that explains anything over my past lives that could have sparked all of this insanity. While I have all of my memories, that doesn’t mean I just know everything. It’s been good to help jog my memory, but beyond that, I’ve found nothing.

I sigh and drop my head onto the open journal in front of me and try not to despair. While I’m glad we found the Lycan traitor, I’m still not a fan of torture. Even if it is to
