Crossroads (Beautiful Biker MC Romance Series) - DD Prince Page 0,96
playing with his little six-year-old cousin, thinking about him playfighting with kids of ours who would maybe look just like the adorable blond-haired Beau.
Christian’s eyes met mine as he set Beau on his feet and I didn’t bother to try to pry the perma-grin off my face.
He looked away and it felt like he’d stomped on my heart with those big motorcycle boots of his. My face fell.
He looked again and alarm slashed across his features as, I guess he saw my new expression. I turned away this time and caught the eyes of Ella, who’d been watching the exchange. Her face looked concerned. I took that opportunity to start clearing up, grabbing a stack of plates to take them to the kitchen.

“I’m gonna stay here,” I said to Jenna. “I’ll grab my stuff tomorrow, ok?”
I was sitting with Jesse, Gianna, and more of the gang by the door in the seat that Christian had vacated. I’d already given Sara a snotty look catching her whispering in the ear of Stacia, a biker’s woman from Sioux Falls.
Sara seemed to take my look seriously and she cleared her bitchy expression before she and Stacia had gone outside for a smoke.
I was glad that Gianna hadn’t witnessed the catty whispering, but I had the feeling Jesse had taken notice. Jesse didn’t seem like he missed much.
“Thought you were gonna stay with us a little longer.” Jenna was pouting.
“Things are getting crazy with the construction project out back and I need to put some hours in here this week to help. I slacked last week.”
“Well, yeah… after what you’ve been through you deserved to take it easy for a few days,” she defended.
“I’m ready to get back to regular life. But, I loved spending time with you. You spoiled me.” I pulled her into a hug.
After that kiss and the hallway scene this morning, I wanted to be where he was. How would I be tempting to him if he couldn’t get to me? To me, he needed to see enough of me to stoke that fire until it was an inferno he couldn’t ignore.
Don’t try to rescue me from our fire, Christian. Step into it with me.
“I’ll run your stuff over tonight,” Rider said. “Got shit in the garage I wanna do.”
“Cool beans; thanks,” I replied.
I hung out a few more minutes until Jesse and Gianna headed back upstairs. I followed them up and she and I chatted in the lounge.
She told me he’d moved her here in the past week, since things went down with me. She’d still been living in Sioux Falls and had been resistant to moving to Aberdeen. Apparently, Jesse put his foot down once I was kidnapped.
“Fucking alphas,” I grumbled.
“Yeah,” she said, smiling and looking totally smitten.
I smiled big at her and giggled. “It’ll be good having you in the clubhouse. So much testosterone up there.” I bumped shoulders with her.
She chuckled. “For a couple weeks, anyway. We’re gonna find an apartment. I can’t live in just one room. And I can’t spend all my time in the party room with bikers I used to… you know… party with. I need a job, too. If I’m moving here, I need a life here.”
“Well, sister, you’ve got friends here, so that’s a start.”
“Really cool of you, Jojo. Getting your brothers’ girls to be nice to me.”
“They’re all great, Gianna. You’ll fit in with our crew no problem.”
She made a face. “Just wish I didn’t have any history with anyone but Jesse. Wish this was a pure fresh start.” She shrugged.
“Yeah, well, this is your love story and love stories often have bumps in the road before the happy ending. And even then once you’ve got your happy ending, it doesn’t mean there won’t be roadblocks creeping up once in a while.”
“Bumps in the road. With bikers? Ha!” Pippa laughed, joining us and clearly hearing a bit of our conversation. “More like half pipes.”
Gianna gave her a big smile. “Yeah, but when it’s worth it, it’s worth it.”
“Mm hm,” Pippa said.
Pippa’s eyes were on Spencer. Gianna’s eyes were on Jesse. Their two men stood at the bar in the lounge. My man walked by and headed out the door to leave, shooting me a dirty look. I clenched my thighs and did a few Kegels, while I bit my lip.
“So, when are we getting the scoop on all that?” Pippa asked in a really low voice.
“I’ll let you know when I’m ready to talk. Let’s just say it’s Team
