Crossroads (Beautiful Biker MC Romance Series) - DD Prince Page 0,81
to be the good guy, not the bad guy his father had groomed him to be. And he deserved credit. And happiness. But, he was determined he wasn’t supposed to have that happiness with me.
“Just five minutes where I pretend I’m good enough to deserve to have something as beautiful as you?”
He felt bad about taking my virginity in a dirty van with blood on his hands. He felt like I was too good for that, too good for him. He had lost control and that five minutes of pretend turned into way more minutes of reality. Reality that showed me how much he wanted me. How not cold of a man he really was. I saw what was underneath the sarcastic asshole behavior.
The guy who didn’t kiss and tried to stay unemotional gave me a peek into emotions I suspected he didn’t share. And he could barely keep his mouth off me. He fought to keep it off me. He wanted me. Plain and simple. He dreamt about me and the way he told me he’d wanted me since he first saw me? That rocked my world.
He didn’t know if we’d make it out of that so the last hours before he took a chance to save us, he’d spent trying to comfort me, assure me he’d get us out of it. And he did. He saved us.
Did I feel different now that I was no longer untouched? Absolutely. I would not have traded that first experience with anyone’s hearts and flowers deflowering, because it spoke volumes about our lives, about the man he was… a man who would go to extreme measures to save an innocent woman. And who wanted just five minutes to pretend he deserved it. But he did deserve it. He just didn’t believe that about himself. I didn’t know what to do about it. But I knew I had to do something.

I spent the next few days at Jenna’s and Rider’s, though giving Ride a wide berth when he was home, which wasn’t a lot. Things were happening with the club, that was clear.
The day after I arrived, I spent most of the day on the couch under a blanket watching TV. The day after that, Jenna and I went to dinner at Dutchie’s Diner where Dad’s girlfriend Laura worked, and she was getting off as we walked in, so she stayed and had dinner with us.
We had prospects Bick and Nolan with us, though they sat at another table. Laura lived a few blocks from the restaurant and when the prospects found out she was walking home, that she hadn’t taken her car to work that day, one of them promptly insisted he’d follow her and then her phone rang and she answered to my father. The prospect told Dad on her, getting her annoyed about it.
I had the feeling she was in big trouble because she rolled her eyes after hanging up with Dad, telling us he informed her he’d be showing up at her place in an hour and told her she was getting taken over his knee for walking to work when he’d told her not to.
“Ooh, that’s hot,” Jenna squirmed in her chair.
Laura went dazed for a second and smiled. “Yeah, it kind of is.” And then her face went red. “Sorry, Jojo.”
I waved my hand. “Don’t mind me. I’m used to it.” But inside I was thinking eww, eye bleach, please. At least she had the decency to apologize.
Jenna said Rider was out dealing with club business after the garage closed and that he’d be late. I complained about having a bad hair day so she took me to her closed salon so she could give me a trim to “cheer me up” while the prospects sat in the waiting area playing cards.
I had a lot of long, curly hair and she took a few inches off, giving it new life. She also gave me a manicure, insisting that it would lift my spirits.
When we were leaving the salon to go back upstairs, I saw Christian drive by on his motorcycle. He was driving beside Justice. Jenna waved.
Justice waved but Christian didn’t wave back, though his eyes hit me just briefly. He pulled over and my heart skipped a beat. He crooked his finger at Bick the prospect, who jogged over to talk to him.
“He’s got an extra crabby-looking face today, doesn’t he?” Jenna mused.
I didn’t say a word. I couldn’t tear my eyes off him and his
